as an authority on women and what it’s like to be a woman i’d just like to say it’s pretty based when you see girls in complete command of engineering as a craft and their problem solving skills unfold in brilliant ways. the sad part is many are pushed away from it all, either by social pressure or family pressure or just not needing to push thru the pain of getting good at engineering broadly my upper division ME classes were 80 guys and 2-3 girls, sometimes none. when i took my PE exam in 2019, the test group was visibly half female, and that was pretty cool to see this will change over time, engineering is getting way cooler and still has tons of value to provide to the world, i expect to see things shift more toward badass engineers being irrelevant to gender, like it always has been, and these playing fields continue leveling

Counterintuitively, to be nice is to be unkind. Because the refusal to offend is the willingness to enable dysfunction. So in your desire to avoid conflict, you perpetuate greater harm. Doing the right thing then is the willingness to be unliked and go repeatedly unappreciated.
