If you’re a Christian genuinely wondering why it’s bad for the state of Texas to require Bible study in public schools, imagine how you’d feel if your family lived in New York City and Mamdani required Quran study in public schools.

This is already happening. It’s incredible watching conservatives repeatedly make this argument without realizing that it completely dismantles their pursuit of metaphysical neutrality. Nothing is ever neutral. Christians have no obligation to treat Christianity and Islam as equally legitimate belief systems to organize society around any more than ancient Athens had an obligation to treat Hellenism and the Persian imperial cult as interchangeable belief systems. So if we’re going to concede the obvious here that state institutions shape public opinion, why on earth would we not want to control them and shape public opinion in accordance with our worldview instead of the worldview of someone like Mamdani?

Men don’t want to get married anymore because of how bad a deal it is for them so they’re just changing the laws to make it so that girlfriends can take your stuff without even having to be married to you.
