NASA's Johnson Space Center
The best view in the universe is the one we call home. 🌎 Earth is the only home we have ever known, and from space its beauty is undeniable. This Earth Day, we honor the astronauts who see it from above, the scientists who study it from below, and the teams at Johnson Space Center who make that work possible. Seeing our world from space reminds us why protecting it matters for generations to come.

This is Sadie. She was finally reunited with her human, astronaut Christina Koch, after her mom’s voyage around the moon took her the furthest any human has ever been from their dog. She can't wait to hear all about the universe. 14/10

50 years ago today, All the President’s Men (1976) was released. Still arguably the greatest film about investigative journalism and political thrillers.

These two images were taken by @astro_reid only minutes apart. The stark difference is the result of camera settings. In the first, a longer shutter speed let in much more light from Earth, while the shorter shutter speed in the second emphasizes our planet's nighttime glow.

This just in—more images of Earth from Artemis II! 🤩 This view from @astro_reid shows the divide between night and day, also known as the terminator, as seen from the Orion capsule.

Fairbanks, we just lived through the history books. The numbers are in, and the Dec-Mar 2025-26 season will go down as the all-time coldest on record for Fairbanks. This marks a dramatic reversal from last years 2nd warmest Dec-Mar timeframe, dropping to the record coldest. #akwx

This #TimelapseTuesday, we're reviewing this captivating imagery of a pair of low pressure systems beautifully swirling over the Gulf of Alaska. This extended GeoColor imagery loop, captured by @NOAA's #GOESWest (#GOES18) satellite, spans from March 21–23 and covers roughly 53 hours in 11 seconds.

It's not just #FullDiskFriday, it's also the first day of #AstronomicalSpring in the Northern Hemisphere! The #VernalEquinox occurred at 10:46 a.m. ET today. In this year-long timelapse from @NOAA's #GOESEast 🛰️, see how the sun’s angle has changed since last year’s equinox due to the Earth’s axial tilt. Happy #spring! 🌎🌸

Looking at temperatures for Fairbanks International Airport, this March has had the most days with minimum temperatures at or below -40°F out of every March since 1942! Chances for minimum temperatures above -10°F increase for a majority of our area through next week. #akwx
