@draculllina //I like thinking Hector recognized the signs when the events of CV III were playing out and him almost being close to dying was his way of 'escaping' the cult's grip. Rosaly also helped 'deprogram' his mind and escape fully through her love and care.

@draculllina //I was able to recognize the signs of Mathias/Dracula being a cult leader pretty quickly through learning about how cults work. He's able to manipulate everyone to his will. Appearance and how much gossip spreads. Isaac was in a vulnerable position, and Dracula liked it.

This is a good day to remind everyone that Castlevania Curse of Darkness is absolute cinema with a compelling narrative about overcoming abuse and learning to love yourself, and Hector and Isaac are genuinely great complex characters not just for CV but in general 🥰

@draculllina Dracula as Hector's abusive father is so important to me too. I love how Hector still calls him Lord (English)/*anata* (Japanese), and still carries traces of his behavior long after he abandoned his Lord. Isaac has his own mannerisms, but shares Dracula's rotten beliefs :)

@draculllina Well. Obviously how Hector feels about it doesn't matter lol. Which is why Dracula either treated Hector's pleas like a bratty temper tantrum (MF manga) or straight up tossed him out of the throne room and then cried that he couldn't understand his precious boy (PtR)

@beevean I know I keep ragging on about it when prompted but it truly is nuts to me how much Hector is just Dracula Jr, maybe more than Alucard. Worst father of the year award

@draculllina We definitely should talk more about how Dracula groomed both Hector and Isaac as his tools of destruction, and how he affected both in how they dehumanize themselves (and even in gestures, like Hector's way of sitting). I think the world is ready to see Isaac as the victim he is

I really hope Belmont's Curse actually has the courage to make the religious persecution Isaac faced and his textbook grooming by Dracula explicit. Feels like people refuse to acknowledge how the Devil Forgemasters are victims of a cult, and Isaac is the one that "never got out."

He was brought in to the castle at around 10, his home town hating him from his very birth. A woman so understanding and loving wouldn’t push him away I’m sure
