So now, instead of people asking me how the war is going, I keep getting questions about how the “peace process” is going. I want to clarify once again: this is not a peace process. It is a fake. A real peace initiative begins with one basic requirement: Russia must demonstrate readiness for a ceasefire. Yet in this proposal a ceasefire is not mentioned; there is no mechanism for troop withdrawal; there are no verification procedures; no guarantees of Russian compliance, etc. This alone shows it is not a pathway to ending the war. Instead, it is part of Russia’s broader cognitive warfare operation aimed at weakening Ukraine and eroding the unity of our partners. The objective here is to delay new sanctions against Russia, to undermine process of the so-called “reparation loan” - the confiscation of Russian sovereign assets, to weaken Western military assistance to Ukraine, to weaken Western resolve in all areas. Additionally, this operation aims to create the impression that the United States is doing everything possible while Ukraine and Europe is being “non-compliant,” giving Washington excuses to step back from its responsibilities as a strategic partner. So I ask my colleagues and the media: do not call this a “peace plan”. It is not. This is a Russian information construct — passed through American intermediaries and now being discussed as if it carries legitimacy. It is a theater. Better ask: if Russia wants peace why Russia has not demonstrated that it is ready to freeze the war?
