🚀 My 3 Top Predictions for WooCommerce in 2025 I’ve been involved with WordPress/WooCommerce for over 13 years, running a company in the space since 2012. Last year I posted my 2024 predictions for WooCommerce and since then things are really starting to heat up, so I wanted to talk about my top 3 hot takes for 2025! 🔥 🤖 First: AI-Powered store are set to become the norm. By the end of 2025, having AI agents doing things in your store won’t be weird. It'll be table stakes. In fact, you’ll be wondering how you ever did all those little things manually. We're working on a new platform which I'll start talking about more in the coming weeks to let you deploy AI agents on your store – it's called StoreAgent.ai. Imagine, AI automatically doing things for you on your store, answering questions, summarising reviews, and more... leaving you to focus on growth. 🌱 Second: Emerging markets will explode with WooCommerce adoption. I'm seeing the perfect storm. Payment gateways and multilingual support are really improving and these are the key components for emerging markets to choose WooCommerce as their preferred ecommerce platform. Couple this with the low barrier to entry and you have a recipe for growth. 📈 Finally: Woo will finally get serious about reporting. A few years ago they rolled out a new Analytics area but as a plugin developer, we've found it really hard to extend. I imagine the time is ripe in 2025 to roll out a new, more extensible version. This would make a lot of sense and make a lot of developers happy. Of course, these are just my guesses, and either way 2025 is set to be an exciting ride for WooCommerce!

I love the way 2024 default theme looks with our @couponsplugin pages out of the box. We're updating some of our screenshots to it like this one for the Store Credits page on the user's My Account. Personally think the .org team did a great job with this year's theme. Kudos!

🚀 My Top Predictions for WooCommerce in 2024: I've been in open source for 15+ years and WordPress/WooCommerce for 10+, never before have so many exciting things come to a head all at once... 🔮 HPOS prediction: Many older plugins that didn't evolve in mid-2023 will fade away, making room for either new alternatives or no 2/3 players who did adapt. A forced "spring clean" of extensions in the space. ✨ New Product Editor: Set to revolutionize product management, this will become the new standard. But it won't be without it's challenges. WooCommerce should expect some resistance until it achieves full functionality and plugin integration. 🏗️ Adoption Challenge: Yet another major structural change, Woo's main task for the year - convincing developers and store owners to embrace the new Product editing experience. 🌐 Woo Express: Watch as it gains traction as a credible hosted store platform. It will start making inroads into Shopify's domination of hosted e-com. 🆕 Competitors on the Horizon: I predict the arrival of another hosted store platform (just like Woo Express) also based on WooCommerce. Potentially from a major hosting company. 📈 Market Dynamics: Woo.com will intensify its push for Marketplace extensions in-app, sparking debates over its competitive edge inside the open source software. This is new territory as it's something WordPress.com never did strongly with open source WP. Keep in mind, these are all conjecture/fortune telling so all or none of these could come true 😅 Overall I'm feeling very positive and pumped for an exciting 2024 in #WooCommerce!
