The person ultimately responsible for the decision to cancel six performances of @ShenYun at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto is the General Director of the Canadian Opera Company, David C. Ferguson. Based on publicly available information, Ferguson’s connections with China can be outlined as follows: 💥 From 1999 to 2012, David C. Ferguson served as Executive Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of BMO Capital Markets. During his tenure, BMO (China) Co., Ltd. was established in China in 2010. According to the official website of the Bank of Montreal (BMO): “Our presence in Greater China is significant. In September 2010, we officially opened our Mainland China incorporated subsidiary bank, Bank of Montreal (China) Co. Ltd. We are the first and only Canadian bank, and amongst a select number of North American banks to operate an incorporated subsidiary in Mainland China ...Today, Bank of Montreal (China) Co. Ltd. has branches in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.” As CFO, David C. Ferguson played an important role in the financial decision-making and structural approval related to the establishment of BMO (China) Co., Ltd. 💥 In 2012, David C. Ferguson retired from BMO, with a transition period from 2012 to 2014. From 2014 to 2019, he served as Board of Directors and its Audit Committee of Hydrogenics Corporation, a Canadian hydrogen energy company. 💥 During his tenure, in 2016, Hydrogenics entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing-based SinoHytec. The agreement included joint development of fuel cell power modules and the supply of power systems specifically designed for the Chinese market. According to Hydrogenics’ website: “The power systems will be integrated into buses and trucks from several leading vehicle manufacturers in China during 2016 and 2017, and the total value of the contract is approximately $13.5 million.” 💥 In 2017, Hydrogenics signed another agreement with Beijing Blue-G New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (“Blue-G”), involving the purchase and licensing of fuel cell technology. Under the agreement, Hydrogenics will deliver 1,000 fuel cell units to Blue-G to be integrated into zero-emission electric buses and an engineering support component for an aggregate sum payable to the Company of over USD 50 million.The agreement was expected to run until around 2020. Incremental are license royalties which are expected to generate revenues for the Company over a 10-year period. 💥 In 2024, David C. Ferguson became the General Director of the Canadian Opera Company, the parent organization of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. In April 2026, during Shen Yun Performing Arts’ scheduled performances at the Four Seasons Centre, a bomb threat—later confirmed by police to be false—occurred. Despite this, the theatre insisted on canceling all remaining five performances of Shen Yun.

Shen Yun Performances: the presenter says the additional threats cited by the venue were never shared with them. Toronto Police confirmed those threats were also unfounded. Four Seasons Centre cancelled all five remaining shows. Why?
Four Seasons Centre is run by the Canadian Opera Company, whose Interim General Director is David C. Ferguson — a retired banker with no arts background, appointed in June 2024. Before the COC, Ferguson served as CFO of BMO Capital Markets from 1999 to 2012, during which BMO became the first Canadian bank to incorporate as a legal entity in China.
In March 2018, Four Seasons Centre hosted the opening ceremony of the 2018 Canada-China Year of Tourism, an event hosted by the People’s Republic of China itself. China’s Ambassador to Canada Lu Shaye attended, conveying greetings from Premier Li Keqiang.
The COC’s legal counsel is Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP — a firm with deep, documented ties to Beijing’s corporate network. Osler has publicly disclosed it represented ChemChina, a Chinese state-owned enterprise, on its US$43 billion acquisition of Syngenta. Its verified China-linked client list includes Tencent Holdings, China Gold International Resources, and Visual China Group. The firm co-hosted business events in Toronto with the Canada China Business Council and maintains a formal practice built around facilitating Chinese state-linked investment into Canada.
Perhaps that history helps explain what happened this week.

💥突發💥非常遗憾，神韵在加拿大多伦多的演出剧院-四季剧院，声称从3月29日起不断收到炸弹恐吓，决定取消神韵在该剧院的余下全部五场演出。事情的时间线是：
3月29日，2点的演出前25分钟，剧院緊急疏散了场内所有人，第一时间宣布取消当天演出，而不是请观众等候，警方来排查后再做定夺。然而演员反馈：半小时以后就可以回后台吃饭。
3.29當天，主办方与剧院积极沟通，当晚发电邮通知我们这些受影响的观众，随后5场演出会增加安保，包括k-9警犬搜查，并说可以换票到其他场次。
3月30日，主办方请求剧院加演一场，以弥补29日取消演出的损失，剧院表示考虑。
3月31日，剧院说人力不足，无法加演。
3月31日夜——4月1日剧院突然做出决定，取消剩下的全部五场演出，且毫无商量余地。
神韵一直是中共跨国镇压的重要对象，近年遭到超过150起炸弹及死亡威胁，但全都被证实是虚假，这次多伦多及两周前密西沙加也不例外，警方有记录在案。我们十分清楚，所有这些恐吓都源自中共，目的只有一个：阻止神韵演出。但过去150多次威胁都没能阻止神韵照常演出，多伦多四季剧院是全球首次！
剧院管理层的决定非常不合常理，是否有其他隐情令人生疑。此事需要更深入的调查。加拿大政府也应当高度重视，一个外国极权政府对加拿大事务的干涉。

At a press conference today, Shen Yun Performance team strongly condemned the Chinese Communist Party for ongoing intimidation on Canadian soil, calling it an attack on Canada’s sovereignty, artistic freedom, and fundamental rights.
Speakers urged the Canadian government to publicly denounce these actions, warning that allowing threats and intimidation to succeed would let a foreign regime shape what Canadians are allowed to see.
Performers shared personal stories of persecution in China, including imprisonment of family members simply for their beliefs, stressing that this is not just about Shen Yun, but about whether intimidation can silence artists in a free society.
Authorities have found the recent bomb threats to be baseless. Shen Yun called on theaters to support the performances and ensure Canadians can freely attend.
“If intimidation crosses borders, silence is not an option.” They said.

Just in: All five Shen Yun Toronto shows have been canceled by the Four Seasons Centre (FSC) due to hoax bomb threats.
The presenter believes these fake threats are part of a systematic global campaign by the CCP to prevent the show, which highlights the beauty of “China before communism” and sheds light on modern human rights abuses in China.
The RCMP has labelled these threats as “public mischief,” following similar fake bomb threats received by Mississauga’s Living Arts Centre two weeks prior. The Peel police deemed the Mississauga case a “non-credible threat.”
On Sunday, March 29th, at 12:55 p.m., multiple people in FSC and the COHC received an email in Swedish originating from Asia. The email claimed that explosive devices had been placed at the Four Seasons Theatre and Parliament Hill in Canada. It warned that if the Shen Yun performance continued, explosions would occur at Parliament Hill and the Four Seasons Theatre. Toronto police dismissed the threat as unfounded.
On Monday, March 30th, FSC informed the presenter that the remaining shows would proceed with enhanced security measures, including K-9 services on-site throughout the run, additional screening, and increased security personnel.
However, on Tuesday, March 31st, FSC informed the presenter that they had received escalating threats over the past 48 hours and had decided to cancel the remaining Shen Yun shows. However, the police confirmed to the presenter that no other threats had been reported.
Reports suggest this fake email campaign is part of a coordinated effort by the CCP to silence Shen Yun. Some of the threatening emails originate from China, and similar Chinese-language emails were previously sent to Parliament Hill and Prime Minister Carney.
Globally, over 150 similar false bomb threats have been received, all targeting Shen Yun. Despite these threats, all the shows have continued to perform, except for now. The Four Seasons Centre’s decision is unprecedented.

This is how intimidation works. When threats shut down performances, those behind them win. The government’s primary responsibility is to ensure basic safety and protect fundamental freedoms. If Mark Carney and his liberal government fail to safeguard peaceful cultural events within its borders, it demonstrates weakness and risks foreign governments encroaching on Canadian rights.
