Another teacher catches sight of the Driver standing outside Ryland's classroom after school. For the first time in years, someone else has truly seen the man in the woods. The next morning that teacher is gone. No one remembers she ever worked there except Ryland. And Driver.

The Driver's memories return in flashes whenever Ryland drives near the old forest road. The visions aren't coherent: headlights, rain, a hammer, blood on leather gloves, and something vast moving between the trees that shouldn't exist.Driver discovers he can now leave the house
