Before we drop the next epic thread from the valleys, here’s the straight-up visa game plan (fresh from official 2026 rules) so you can stay immersed longer without the stress. No gatekeeping—this is for the whole tribe chasing that sacred-plant vision!
1. Getting IN is EASY 🛂
Most nationalities (including US) get Visa on Arrival at Kathmandu airport or land borders.
•15 days: $30
•30 days: $50
•90 days (3 months!): $125
Multiple-entry, passport needs 6+ months validity + one blank page. Super simple form + cash or card. New 2026 twist: download the Department of Immigration (DOI) app for FNMIS QR tracking—makes everything smoother when you’re deep in the fields.
2. Staying 3 months? You can EXTEND and keep the magic flowing!
Yes—you DO NOT have to leave after 90 days.
Tourist visas extend up to 150 days TOTAL per calendar year (Jan–Dec).
•Apply at Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara (easy online pre-fill at nepaliport.immigration.gov.np).
•Minimum 15-day extension: $45 + $3 per extra day.
So if you land with 90 days, you can tack on another 60 days for ~$180 total extension fee. Stay deep in the valleys, documenting those rare landraces that unite us all.
3. What if you want MORE than 150 days?
Hit the 150-day cap and you gotta exit Nepal. No forced “wait X months” rule—zero minimum exit time. Grab a new Visa on Arrival the same day you return (India border run is classic—one day in Birgunj and you’re back). Just remember the annual clock resets Jan 1. Overstay fines kick in hard ($3–5/day + possible NPR 50k), so plan ahead like we do on every vlog.
