Back in 2007, this Mercedes cost around ₹45 lakh. Today, it’s worth barely ₹5 lakh. Now imagine if someone had bought land instead. At that time, land was roughly ₹5 lakh per acre, and today the same land is worth ₹8–10 crore per acre. That means the same investment could have grown to nearly ₹90 crores instead of shrinking to ₹5 lakh! That’s the difference between buying a liability and buying an asset! 💯

A lot of my engineering friends went to the US for their master’s between 2008–2013. They have been living there for about 18 years now. None of them speak with an accent. That’s nearly half your speaking life (assuming you started speaking fluently at 4) - you lived in a place and didn’t pick up an accent. So now when I hear these famous NRIs/OCIs (bankers, VCs, engineers, CEOs, founders) in these summits and panels, I really question if the accent is a conscious choice to get ahead in the workplace, or if they have to speak in an accent when they talk about work because otherwise it feels weird. How can so many people not have accents and so many people do? Do humans adapt differently and have no control over their accents, or is it a conscious choice?
