A demo of how to connect two laptops using Mirusync and sync a folder in minutes. Think git, but peer to peer. Direct sync, locally — no third party ever touches your files. Install it in two commands: brew tap hanif-adedotun/mirusync brew install mirusync Connect once, always keep your folders in sync. github.com/hanif-adedotun…
hanif@devhanif

for a while I kept trying to sync folders across my desktop and laptop. git does this for code. why not everything else? so I built mirusync — a peer-to-peer CLI folder sync engine. no cloud. connect once, multiple collaborators. always in sync. github.com/Hanif-adedotun…

These comments amuse me. There are so many African startups who quietly move their engineering teams to Accra for many simple reasons. The first one is that people have to be able to live and work in safe places without fear of harassment and also with good infrastructure to make you worry less about meaningless things. Teams that worry less about life in general are by far more productive. Many have used my office in Accra to start that way. One currently has their entire engineering team there. Go to @ImpactHubAccra and you will be surprised at who their tenants are. The second is the availability of constant electricity and good Internet bandwidth. I see people cursing both MTN and Starlink here daily, when you raise a lot of money, you can't afford to be giving excuses to investors ans customers. You find a serious place to do work. I made that decision in 2008 while rolling out mobile payments in several countries for the largest telco. Coordinating it from Lagos became a pain. Doing it from Accra was much easier. The Terra founder puts it quite simply below. They are in a race against time. Ukraine, America, Turkey, Iran, and others aren't worried about the optics of where to produce drones. Ghana also has the advantage of many high-quality universities producing great talent. @_KingNath should consider Cameroon next.

Quite sad that Terra are taking their actual factory to Accra while their Abuja facility will serve as the research HQ. We will lose the jobs, the FDI and the trickle down benefits.

Quite ironic that I’ve been getting emails from global fashion brands and media networks to come talk about my the work that we do @chessinslums and @GiftOfChess . Follow our important work. It’s all that matters away from the noise. We are doing great things from a small place.

The first Nigerian man through @GiftOfChess to help setup a waste to plastic chess sets manufacturing factory in the slums of Kibera Kenya 🇰🇪. That employs people and produces chess boards to promote chess education in underserved communities across Kenya.

Which is why I push back against the idea that our social values are warped simply because we are poor. The deeper problem is that good character is not consistently rewarded or respected, and bad character is not reliably shunned or punished.
