This has been in my experience a bigger problem than fake citations. We published 2 papers testing widespread (hyped) assumptions with empirical data, found that they don't really hold up. They both get cited to support the hyped assumption, which persists.

Speaking of citation, if you come across a work that cited your work but claiming the opposite of what you said, will you be happy? Of course not. We not only should read the work that we cite but we also need to understand it.

@Carlos_astu_ @Rita_Maestre Hola, para tener un buen sonido en todos los puntos, la solución no es subir el volumen de los altavoces frontales (esto dañaría el oído de la gente cerca del escenario), sino distribuir más altavoces y usar direccionables. Los profesionales contratados deberían saberlo. 😬

Tiene razón @Rita_Maestre cuando denuncia el absurdo del sonido en los conciertos de San Isidro. Mientras cualquier promotor privado en Madrid consigue excepciones para superar los límites de decibelios, los conciertos públicos de las fiestas de todos se quedan limitados a 90 dB.

Lo tercero: el sonido en los conciertos es un problema EVIDENTE. El nivel de sonido es irrisorio. Cuando tanto artistas como público se quejan de que no se oye nada a pocos metros del escenario, algo falla. Madrid es la ciudad del ruido todos los días menos en los conciertos de San Isidro.

@Rderuido En los pueblos igual, por desgracia, o incluso en medio del campo si te alquilan las casas de al lado para fiestas. Entre vehículos con escapes modificados y altavoces más potentes de lo necesario, se está normalizando invadir el lugar de descanso de los demás sin pudor.

I did not see this coming - the hantavirus outbreak shining a light on just how widespread medical misogyny remains in this day and age. Hysteria is still commonplace; it has merely changed name. Potentially fatal consequences is also not a rarity in this abominable culture.

Google developers significantly misstate carbon emissions of proposed UK datacentres. Just 3 will generate emissions equivalent to those of a city such as Bristol. Datacentres consume excessive amount of water/electricity, generate few permanent jobs. theguardian.com/technology/202…

@CovidSolidarit1 @1goodtern Yep, and it's not technically a fall or a rise, as the elections were in other different places, no? I think one thing is to challenge the narrative in the media now, and other to try to find comfort that can lead to dangerous complacency. :/

The hantavirus ship is currently en route to Tenerife. On arrival, asymptomatic passengers & crew will disembark & be sent home, despite possibly being infected & in the incubation period. The 146 people on board are from 23 different countries. This seems like a BAD idea 😬
