If you work hard, the least you should expect is the security of a roof over your head. The Tories broke that contract when they failed to build the homes Britain needed. My Labour government is fixing it. metro.co.uk/2025/02/13/kei…

@CWSSch @RoySocChem Another problem is the additives put in all plastics to confer things like colour, physical attributes etc. Some are quite toxic and are readily released upon biodegradation of the plastic. How do we deal with that?

@CWSSch @RoySocChem How is biodegradable defined? Many products badged as biodegradable cannot, for example, be composted under normal conditions.

@WycliffeCollege The Fairphone is a great idea but for it to be effective people need to buy it rather than the latest iPhone. How do we attract buy-in from the public?

Henry, Abigail, Conrad and Athina from Years 9-11 have entered this poster into the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Top of the Bench competition. They have researched the elements involved in the making of smartphones and what happens if they run out! 📱🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

@PriorPark @RoySocChem Are there any alternative elements (or combinations of elements) that could provide viable alternatives?

@MCol_Academic @RoySocChem Also, have you considered so-called Nature-Based Solutions towards carbon capture and how they might compare with your solutions in terms of effectiveness?

@MCol_Academic @RoySocChem These are two excellent overviews of industrial processes for removing CO2 from the atmosphere. I just wondered how sustainable the forst process is as maintaining a ball of plasma sounds very energy intensive.

If the UK government was serious about environmental research as they like to claim then they'd give it 0% VAT like medical research...
