People criticising Obi Cubana and other young entrepreneurs for associating with government officials are missing a bigger point. Nigeria is not a perfect democracy. Like many African and Asian countries, political power often outweighs economic power. Governments can witch-hunt businesses, silence critics, freeze accounts, revoke licenses, frustrate operations, or unleash regulatory agencies on anyone perceived as an enemy. In such a system, neutrality is dangerous and opposition can be expensive. That is why most big businessmen in Nigeria—like Aliko Dangote (@AlikoDangote) and Femi Otedola (@realFemiOtedola)—maintain relationships with every government in power, no matter how terrible the president is. It is not always about loyalty or ideology. It is about survival and protecting investments that employ thousands of people. Look at China. Jack Ma challenged the system, and shortly after, his Ant Group IPO was suspended, his companies faced heavy regulations, and his influence shrank drastically. The message was clear: in some systems, billionaires are not more powerful than the state. Across Africa, businessmen who openly fund opposition or challenge governments have lost contracts, faced tax probes, asset seizures, and regulatory attacks. Nigeria is not different. When the state feels threatened, businesses often pay the price. So when young entrepreneurs choose diplomacy over confrontation, it is not cowardice. It is strategy. The real problem is not businessmen who align with governments. The real problem is a system where businesses must align with power to survive. Until we fix that system, expecting entrepreneurs to behave like activists is unrealistic.

@fisayosoyombo @Osas_ThePlug That president was President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan but he was taken for granted and ridiculed for showing care.

Someday, Nigerians will have an empathetic president who will treat victims of terror attacks as real human beings, with the basic dignity humans should have... a courageous president who will visit actual terror scenes to personally assess damage and console victims. Until then, continue managing this one who summons victims into a town hall where he delivers yet another of his many insipid speeches...

Foden’s achievements at City are impressive given his young age, but his recent decline has been significant. Even Pep Guardiola, who recognised his potential, can barely give him minutes. His overall national team career hasn’t been successful either. Considering his current form, it seems unfair to include him in the World Cup when he couldn’t perform for England even when he was on form and was voted player of the year.

@extrapolateASG @SavvyRinu Again, your mistake is believing we are dealing with civil people here. When (not if) thugs come to your PU after vote casting, with machetes/guns to steal your ballot and disenfranchise you, while the assigned Police men look the other way, please Use civility to stop them.

Your last submission contradicts your earlier point. Until we collectively recognise that the real struggle is not against fellow citizens, but against politicians and a draconian system that has been weaponised against the people and against the growth and development of our nation we will keep misdirecting our energy. When citizens turn on each other over political affiliations, it only strengthens the very system we complain about. It creates division, weakens collective voice, and makes it easier for those in power to maintain control without accountability. The focus should be on demanding better governance, fairness, and justice, not attacking one another. If we fail to draw that line, we risk becoming tools of the same system we seek to challenge.

@extrapolateASG @SavvyRinu The war is not against other voters, its against the evil politicians that want to take our lives. I dnt care about anyone that wants to vote APC, I care about the one that want to snatch ballot, and change figures. You have no idea how unpopular this government has become.

There’s a clear difference between defending yourself or protecting your vote, and attacking people simply because of their political affiliation. That kind of approach is not just wrong, it’s counterproductive. Think about it: if everyone starts targeting others over political choices, who really suffers in the current system? It won’t be the thugs or the most radical supporters of the government, especially when they often have the backing of state institutions and the judiciary. In the end, it’s ordinary citizens who bear the consequences. That’s why this path only makes things worse, not better.

@extrapolateASG @SavvyRinu If you think you can remove these city boys by playing by the books, by trusting Eye-Nek and "going to court" then you are deceiving yourself sir. You can't defend yourself from a lion that wants to devour you by telling it "stop, Go away"

We can’t condemn figures like Mc Oluomo and Sunday Igboho for intimidation and harassment, yet turn around and do the same to fellow citizens simply because they support a different candidate or party. If we all adopt that approach, we all lose, especially when these actions happen in isolation rather than as part of any meaningful, collective push for change. I’m responding to you because your point was thoughtful and grounded, unlike many others that rely on insults instead of logic or critical thinking.

The recent Court of Appeal judgment, alongside INEC’s interpretation, is not intended to prevent the ADC from fielding candidates in the 2027 general elections. Rather, it is a strategic move aimed at slowing the party’s growing momentum. This momentum has been fueled by a wave of high-profile defections, most notably in Kano, led by @KwankwasoRM and Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the former Deputy Governor of Kano State and the APC’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate, along with their supporters. Similar political realignments in Kaduna have further strengthened the party’s position. With indications that states like Bauchi and Oyo may also lean toward the ADC, its rising influence is beginning to pose a credible challenge to the ruling party, @OfficialAPCNg. In this context, the actions of the presidency and key figures within the ruling party is less about enforcing legal constraints and more about shaping political behavior. By introducing uncertainty around the ADC’s standing, they may be attempting to discourage other prominent or ambitious politicians from joining the party, thereby containing its expansion the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso@KwankwasoRM

Today, we proudly welcomed Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, former Kano Deputy Governor and APC gubernatorial candidate, into the ADC family. Speaking before a massive crowd at his Gawuna Ward, I described his defection as a monumental and inspiring development — one that signals the beginning of a larger movement as more prominent figures join our cause. I also seized the moment to issue a clear warning to those planning to disrupt the upcoming electoral process: any attempt to manipulate or undermine the will of the people will be met with strong and resolute resistance. - RMK

Attacking fellow citizens is not the way forward. Even if driven by frustration, it only deepens division and weakens the very cause it seeks to advance. If such actions become normalized, we must remember that the ruling party holds overwhelming power, through state institutions, security forces, and aligned actors and will always have the upper hand in that kind of confrontation. This is not a call for the opposition to be passive or submissive, but for it to act with strategy, discipline, and principle. Meaningful and lasting change cannot come from turning against one another; it must be built through unity, accountability, and constructive action.

The recent attack and killings in Jos are a tragic and unacceptable reminder of the ongoing failure to protect innocent lives. These senseless acts of violence have once again plunged families and communities into grief, fear, and uncertainty. It is deeply troubling that at a time when citizens are being slaughtered, the government appears more focused on securing electoral victories than fulfilling its fundamental responsibility to safeguard lives and property. Leadership must be measured not by political success, but by the safety and well-being of the people. Equally concerning is the apparent failure of security agencies, whose poor intelligence gathering and inadequate response have allowed such atrocities to occur. The persistent gaps in proactive security measures raise serious questions about preparedness, accountability, and commitment. This tragedy demands more than words, it requires urgent, decisive action. The protection of citizens must be treated as an absolute priority, not an afterthought. The people of Nigeria deserve safety, justice, and a government that places their lives above politics.

@damii10 @omaakatugba @khalyemni The fact is, Maduka Okoye is a Nigerian international, and Noah Atubolu isn’t. If Maduka weren’t a Nigerian player, you would be all over any news praising his performance at Udinese.

@omaakatugba @khalyemni Took you 11hrs to draft this and you still deviated from the point. Whether Nwabali has a club or not, performance wise he is much more a better goalie than Maduka. Noah Atubolu performance wise is also better than Maduka unless you don’t watch Tv 📺 Leave sentiments aside..

Maduka Okoye is at the same level as him. They both play at the highest level of Europe. That’s the real deal. Super eagles alone can’t make you really satisfied. Let’s pray Nwabali finds a club and make proper money. I am actually trying secretly as well. Ask @khalyemni . That’s his dream. Wish him well and stop this buffoonery

@omaakatugba Now this is a goalie that can rival Stanley Nwabali for Nigeria’s number one spot and not your Maduka Okoye
