बाबा साहेब डॉ आंबेडकर लिखते हैं कि स्त्री की स्वाधीनता और उसके शैक्षिक-आर्थिक सारे अधिकारों पर मनु ने प्रतिबंध लगा दिया। अत: भारतीय स्त्री के पतन की कहानी मनु के समय से आरंभ होती है। मनु ने स्त्री के विरुद्ध प्रतिक्रांति का काम किया।  मनु ने शूद्रों को तो मनुष्य ही नहीं माना, पर वह स्त्रियों के प्रति भी अपनी बहुत-ही नीच सोच रखता था। स्त्रियों के विरुद्ध मनु की प्रतिक्रांति इस सिद्धांत पर आधारित है कि वह स्त्रियों को किसी भी परिस्थिति में स्वतंत्र देखना नहीं चाहता था। मनु ने विवाह को एक संस्कार माना था, इसलिए उसने तलाक की अनुमति नहीं दी। तलाक के खिलाफ उसके कानून का मकसद बिल्कुल अलग था। उसका मकसद एक पुरुष को एक स्त्री से बांधने के लिए नहीं था, बल्कि एक स्त्री को एक पुरुष से बांधने और पुरुष को स्वतंत्र छोड़ने के लिए था। लेकिन मनु किसी पुरुष को अपनी पत्नी का परित्याग करने से नहीं रोकता है। वास्तव में वह उसे न केवल अपनी पत्नी को छोड़ने की अनुमति देता है, बल्कि उसे बेचने की भी अनुमति देता है।और यह सब उसने स्त्री को किसी भी स्थिति में आज़ाद होने से रोकने के मकसद से किया था। बाबा साहेब डॉ.आंबेडकर ने लिखा है कि वास्तव में मनु अपनी समाज-व्यवस्था में स्त्री की स्वतंत्रता छीनकर बौद्धधर्म के विस्तार को रोकना चाहता था। वह अपने कानून में न्याय अथवा अन्याय के विचार से चिंतित नहीं था, बल्कि स्त्रियों को बौद्ध शासन के तहत मिली स्वतंत्रता से चिंतित था।

अजीत भारती उर्फ़ चाइनीज के पूर्वजों ने नकली सर्टिफिकेट और जाली ताम्रपत्र बनाकर मूलनिवासि बौद्धों की जमीनों पर कब्जा किया। आज सबसे ज्यादा जमीनें इन्हीं ब्राह्मणवादीयों के पास हैं। भारत में कभी लैंड डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन नहीं हुआ यही कारण है कि आज भी असमानता कायम है। प्राचीन काल से ही इन समुदायों ने बौद्ध मठों की समृद्ध जमीनों पर कब्जा किया। महामहोपाध्याय हरप्रसाद शास्त्री जी साफ लिखते हैं भूमिहार-बाभन बौद्ध-ब्राह्मण थे। बौद्ध धर्म के पतन के बाद इन्होंने मठों की जमीनें हड़प लीं, इसलिए उन्हें "भूमि-हरक" कहा जाता है। यह शब्द किसी संस्कृत शब्दकोष में नहीं मिलता। गुजरात के वडनगर के पास देव नि मोरी (मौर्यों के देव) पूरा बौद्ध सर्किट है। 1963 में आर.एन. मेहता की खुदाई में मठ, स्तूप, बुद्ध प्रतिमा और अवशेष पेटिका मिली। उस जगह का मूल नाम "पसन्तिपल्ली" था। शिलालेख में साफ लिखा है "दशबल: सुगत: सूर्य: वराह" और "तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय"।नालंदा और गया के जाली ताम्रपत्र भी इसी चोरी के गवाह हैं। चोरी है साले... जमीनें भी चोरी की, इतिहास भी चोरी का। स्रोत: हरप्रसाद शास्त्री, Indian Epigraphy, देवनि मोरी खुदाई रिपोर्ट (1960-63)।
