Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, popularly known as Alan Cash, placed second in the 2010 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary with 20.40% of the total valid votes cast. Nana Akufo-Addo won the contest overwhelmingly with 77.92% of the votes. This was his second attempt at the party’s leadership after coming in as first runner-up in the 2007 primary with 32.3% against Akufo-Addo’s 47.96%.
