I’m gonna have to disagree here because when was the last time we had a singular established male lead character who is gay? I’m not talking about RPGs where you select female and male and optionally choose to be with other males or females, I’m talking about an established character. There’s none. You may have a female character, who is a lesbian, or vague/non-traditionally feminine/tomboyish And thus doesn’t scream “support for LGBT+” to me. It feels like a cop out toeing the line, checking all the boxes to sell, and they did those at times until they exhausted the money to be made from that. So it was never a genuine support, and it was always shying away from going all the way, and in the rare times that it was “in your face” it felt preachy rather than real. The way I see, it is players who were far more mature or indifferent towards these things and nowadays they are acting militant and relying mostly on conspiracy theory to find an agenda where there’s none, or to pretend a franchise never had a thing and only just started now, when it always done so.

I actually think this is a great example of how far gone the industry is This game came out and no one gay a flying fuck about Tony being gay. They never shyed away from it or made it more than it was and he also had a CHARACTER besides being gay Now? It'd be nothing but "gay right and everybody else is wrong". No depth. No nuance. Just pure agenda. And that's what turns people off
