“Masks don’t work.” We still hear this a lot, and it usually comes down to misunderstanding how masks actually work. Masks aren’t just tiny strainers. High-quality masks (like N95s) use electrostatic charge to attract and trap airborne particles, including those that carry viruses. Fit matters, too. A loose mask leaves gaps. A well-fitted respirator is designed to seal and protect both what you breathe in and what you breathe out. And here’s the part people miss: dose matters. The more virus you inhale, the higher your risk. Masks reduce that exposure, and when both people mask, protection compounds. So no, it’s not that “masks don’t work.” It’s that not all masks, or how they’re used, work the same. Victoria Wood as the step aerobics instructor It's been 10 years since Victoria Wood sadly passed away. A big shock to all. Here's a clip in one of her many funny characters. Great energy. One of the best of all time in British comedy. RIP #Legend

You want proof? - Point of use means pay after. You idiots 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🫖☕️ Farage has publicly praised insurance-based healthcare. He’s endorsed the American model. He’s called the NHS “unsustainable in its current form.” This is what that costs: GP: £129 A&E: £1,368 Hip replacement: £23,400 Ambulance: £1,045 Heart surgery: £71,997 Free or bankrupted by a heart attack. Mandelson was sacked in September 25. Lebedev was given a peerage by Johnson against HOLAC and intelligent service advice. He’s still in HoL and stills owns The Independent and Standard newspapers. Tory hypocrisy on steroids. #SecurityVettingStatement

New national suicide figures were released by @ONS this week - covering the final 3 months of 2025. But more important, they complete the whole-year figs for last year, telling us what is happening to suicide rates. Particularly important at a time of economic stress.

And at a time of economic adversity - is there any other kind? - what more can we do for those on the wrong end of inequality? Suicide prevention is about social justice as well as health care.

Conveniently everyone in this country has very short memories about security clearance concerns surrounding @BorisJohnson appointment as Foreign Secretary. Meeting with Former KGB Agent: In 2022, it was revealed that Johnson, while serving as Foreign Secretary in 2018, attended a party in Italy hosted by former KGB agent Alexander Lebedev without officials present. This meeting occurred after a NATO meeting centered on Russia, leading to accusations of a "complete disregard for basic national security". Restricted Intelligence Access: During his tenure as Foreign Secretary (2016–2018), Downing Street under Theresa May reportedly attempted to withhold sensitive intelligence from Johnson due to concerns within the intelligence community regarding his ability to keep information confidential. Security officials were "wary" of sharing information with him. Use of Private Communication: Johnson and several ministers were accused of breaching national security guidance by using personal email accounts and phones for government business. Peerage for Evgeny Lebedev: Concerns were raised regarding Johnson's decision to grant a peerage to Evgeny Lebedev, son of Alexander Lebedev, in 2020, despite security advice. Post-Office Lobbying (The "Boris Files"): Leaked documents from 2025 indicated that after leaving office, Johnson potentially misused his former contacts for personal financial gain, including lobbying senior Saudi officials and meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, which raised concerns about the blurring of private business and national security. Breach of Ethics Rules: A 2025 investigation found that Johnson breached rules regarding the misuse of political contacts after leaving office and failed to cooperate with the investigation.  People in this country attack the wrong targets. And forget the scandals that went on before this @UKLabour Government was elected to power and then gets unwarranted and sinister attacks from a conspiracy on both the left and right.

What they’re NOT telling you (conveniently): 👀 👉 2.7 million of the 8.4m on UC WORK - full-time jobs that still DON’T pay enough to live on, so the taxpayer tops it up. 👉 The “surge” is mostly just shuffling people from legacy benefits onto UC. Calling this “nearly 1 in 5 on benefits” is fear-mongering. Maybe ask why so many working Brits need state help ⁉️ Or is manufactured outrage easier than fixing low wages and sky-high rents❓
Katie Lam@Katie_Lam_MP

Britain is home to 43.4 million working age people. 8.4 million are now on Universal Credit. That's nearly 1 in 5 people relying on benefits. And that number is only growing, meaning that hard-working people will end up paying even more tax in future. This cannot go on.

Because it hadn't been fully rolled out by then, so there were millions of people still on other legacy benefits. Now it has been rolled out almost in its entirety, meaning the vast majority of the people on those legacy benefits are now claiming UC , hence the name UNIVERSAL credit
Catherine Blaiklock@blaiklockBP

March 2019 - under 2 million on Universal Credit. March 2026 - 8.4 million on Universal Credit.

So far this week there has been extreme outrage because Kier Starmer, the UK Prime Minister: 1) Went on a 3 day minibreak to Spain and stayed in a £200 a night 4 star hotel 2) Spent £1500 on a sofa, and £1400 on a bed at his Downing Street residence (all Prime Ministers have, and have always used, a £30,000 annual allowance for this same residence). Does anyone else see how pathetic and desperate this all is? In a world where so many world leaders are openly corrupt to the tune of multi-billion dollars, that these people are digging so hard and so deep to fabricate a scandal where none exists? Outrage bait BS, and we all know it.

More than half a century after Apollo 11, the first human footprints on the Moon remain exactly as they were left — untouched.New observations from the Artemis II mission, captured during its historic lunar flyby, have once again confirmed what the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has shown us for years: in the Sea of Tranquility, the descent stage of the Eagle still stands, the astronauts’ paths are clearly visible, and even the faint surface tracks from that giant leap remain preserved in the lunar dust. But here’s what makes it truly awe-inspiring…On Earth, wind, rain, and the relentless forces of weather erase our history almost as quickly as we make it.On the Moon, there is nothing to disturb it.No atmosphere. No wind. No rain. No erosion.Every footprint pressed into the regolith could endure for millions of years — a cosmic time capsule frozen in place. What you’re seeing isn’t merely an old landing site. It’s a permanent timestamp left by humanity on another world.A quiet, enduring declaration that in 1969, we didn’t just gaze at the Moon from afar… We reached out, touched it, and left our mark — one that time itself cannot easily erase.
