Pedra do Ingá feels less like a wall of symbols and more like a question left in stone. Carved beside the Ingá River in Paraíba, Brazil, this itacoatiara is covered with repeated grooves, cups, spirals, and figure-like marks. Look at how the rounded cup-marks cluster beside the long vertical cuts. Archaeologists treat it as rock art, but its exact meaning remains unresolved. What detail here looks most intentional to you?

The Sanctuary at Karnak ruins hide its full glory in the negative spaces. Beneath the forest‑thick columns there’s a sense of what’s missing: the cedar roofs long vanished, the painted reliefs once vibrant with color now gone. A ceiling now replaced by sky. What survives is only the skeleton of its original form. In its completed state you would have been closed off from the world we’re in and placed into another one.
