On my birthday for the last 8yrs myself and my daughter Georgia would do the BSBI New Year Plant Hunt. I've not been feeling like doing any botany since around Apr so I wasn't sure about going out today. Georgia got me out and we got our highest count of 23 wildflowers in bloom

@AmiesPhilip @Penny4It Thank You. I've lost the spark for it this year preferring writing as my creative outlet. I guess a break from a subject is good sometimes. An opportunity to return to it with fresh eyes.

@EmmaKennedy Obviously there's the populist angle at play but I also feel compliance is an issue. Given recent revelations regarding No 10 parties last Christmas, I think there's genuine concern that people just won't stick to the rules if they implemented a lockdown during the holidays
