I am calling on Congress and currently working on measures to extend resources, healthcare, counseling, and hazard pay to all Capitol custodial, food service, and support staff after Wednesday’s attack. Everyone who was there needs support.

The career landscape for anyone specializing in higher education pedagogy is ... weird. The work of faculty development, the work of teaching teachers, is too often perceived as instrumental.

Shine and Amplify: first we “shine” in small groups, sharing a highlight from our week; then we “amplify” by sharing someone else’s highlight with the large group, followed by collective “snaps,” of course. #mla19

Was it a radical move to do “Shine and Amplify” at my #mla19 panel? It was so easy and delightful that it didn’t feel out of the norm. And I hope it was a reminder to all of us how important our lives are beyond the profession.
