Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will have to divest their business holdings if they want to join the Trump administration, to avoid violating conflict-of-interest laws. So if Elon takes a job, could he be forced to sell his stock in Tesla? Or could he be forced to sell Twitter?

@chrislhayes There is a whole branch of mathematics on voting systems. Our current system is definitely the worst. Systems that let you give an opinion on multiple choices are better.

@vanillaopinions I can’t find the numbers to prove it, but I believe this was a turnout issue more than a change in preference. I know youth vote was down and Harris failed to turn out the base. Some young men have been persuaded by the “alpha male” ridiculousness, but most still liberal.

I owe Green Party voters an apology. Kamala Harris lost by 4.6 million votes. The Green Party didn’t even reach 650K. Democrats did not lose because of the Green Party. Establishment Democrats lost because they have abandoned the 40% of their party who voted for Bernie Sanders.

@digby56 Harris threw the base under the bus this time, but avoided the Real American part. She went for rich Republican women and failed miserably.

People are acting like Democrats have never tried adopting the allegedly authentic aesthetic of the Real American and threw their own base under the bus at every opportunity in the process. It didn't work any better, it really didn't. But hey, let's give it another round.Why not?

Ezra Klein looks a hell of a lot worse now that his gambit to kick Biden off the ticket was a catastrophe. And yes, Biden would have lost, but no, driving a train off a different cliff isn't better.

This is an important point. More than anything it was the inflation that killed the Democrats. While I still blame Harris for pushing the base away instead of trying to turn them out, this was an issue worldwide.
