This week I honored the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed members of @mccommunitycat for their tireless advocacy to decrease the numbers of cats and kittens surrendered to shelters, reduce the risk of rabies and other diseases, and improve the lives of both the feline and human members of our community. The Montgomery County Community Cat Coalition was founded in 2016 by members of the animal welfare community to create an innovative, proactive, community-based program to care for unowned or abandoned outdoor cats, collectively known as community cats. The volunteers who serve as caretakers help facilitate trap-neuter-vaccinate-return, in which cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and returned to their outdoor homes where they are fed and monitored by caretakers. Thank you to all our the animal lovers in our community!

MC C³ is the recipient of a $1000 grant from @petcolove to assist us in providing spays and neuters under our TNR progam. Many thanks for this help and recognition, for the third straight year, and thanks to our volunteers and caretakers for all the hard work!

Not to be outdone during National Dog Month, six kittens were recently rescued by Lt. Gratton, the Commander of our Mounted unit, with the help of the @mccommunitycat Cat Squad. All are healthy and have already been adopted!

Stormy was trapped for sterilization recently. Her sister Dusty was spayed in late July, but Stormy took a bit more work before we could lure her into a trap. These teenage girls won't be producing their own litters this summer. Thank you @MdAgDept for funding this project!
