One of the more humbling parts of walking is passing multiple homes and realizing each door is a portal to an infinite world you know nothing about.

“Dostoevsky said once, "There is only one thing I dread: not to be worthy of my sufferings." These words frequently came to my mind after I became acquainted with those martyrs whose behavior in camp, whose suffering and death, bore witness to the fact that the last inner freedom cannot be lost. It can be said that they were worthy of the their sufferings; the way they bore their suffering was a genuine inner achievement. It is this spiritual freedom—which cannot be taken away—that makes life meaningful and purposeful.” ― Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning

@joynessthebrave I think it's social media and the meme-i-fication of reactions/feelings. Severe lack of empathy and everyone assumes the worst in others. Idk, I am so saddened and exhausted by it as well.

The constant pumping of music into every public space, every idle second of sport, every supermarket and café, speaks to an underlying sickness, a kind of cultural mental illness. As a society we are allergic to silence, terrified of spending even one second with our own thoughts

A person with genuine faith has an internal center of gravity. Their convictions are not merely borrowed from an external authority or ideology. Because of that, they can encounter complexity, contradiction, or ambiguity without losing their footing. Their belief produces qualities like patience, mercy, and steadiness, because it isn’t constantly under threat. Fanaticism works the opposite way. The person’s certainty is actually fragile, so it must be defended constantly. That is why fanatics often rely on rigid formulas, slogans, or ideological checklists. Anything that doesn’t fit the framework feels like an existential threat, which leads to anxiety, anger, and cruelty toward dissenters.
