Last night I played 4 hours of the original Command & Conquer Red Alert with a friend. I absolutely loved this game. One of the first PC games I truly obsessed over. Released in 1996. Still an incredible game. DId you play it?

Dune 2000, released in 1998 by Westwood Studios (developed by Intelligent Games), is a partial remake of the genre-defining Dune II. It might have gotten a little lost in the shuffle of RTS games that dominated towards the late 90s, such as Age of Empires, Warcraft 2, StarCraft and Command & Conquer. Set on the spice-rich desert planet Arrakis, players command one of three houses - noble Atreides (sonic tanks, Fremen allies), brutal Harkonnen (Devastators), or stealthy Ordos (Deviators) - to harvest spice, build bases, and crush rivals, while also saving your harvesters from the ever present sandworms. Powered by a Command & Conquer-style engine with cutscenes inspired by David Lynch's film, it offers multiplayer and tough campaigns, though criticized for bland maps and dated visuals by 1998 standards (at least according to some magazines - I didn't see it that way). If you like classic RTS games, Dune 2000 is an excellent choice.
