Thank you very much, very interesting. I made my version using the first circuit and measuring times, distances, turns, recording the game with my cell phone. First emulator and then switch version. Then I adjusted mine until I found the correct values for acceleration, rotation, etc. It would have been great for me, although having to play so much was the best part :D

Thanks a lot! I’d love to offer both low-res and high-res modes if I can. The thing is, coming from a programming background, the visual/art side takes me a lot of time. Right now I’m still not sure if Virtuoso GP Race-On is going to really take off. With demo and fest, only 470 whislist in total. I think maybe a new demo, with new visuals, it can relaunch the game. But I agree with you: covering both tastes would be ideal. Really appreciate the feedback!

@polloarcadebit I love both. But I reckon the PS1 style looks really nice! Interesting for a SEGA style game to have a PS1 aesthetic. It'd probably be a good idea to have low-res and high-res options for it too. Some like the former, and some the latter, so covering all bases is the way 😊

I recreated several types of 90s arcade driving styles in Unity. Sega rally, outrun 2, virtua racing and something similar to the "rails" of ridge racer. I felt that the retro racing games that came out had the look but not the feeling. I started doing virtual racing. I couldn't do the marketing well and right now it's paused. I only got 400 whistles and things didn't look good. I could not continue working without pay and without expectations of economic return😅. Try to finance it by making a simpler game. It did not cover the development costs xD. The demo is on Steam, in case you like these games and want to try it.

seeing someone recreating the ridge racer drift system really feels like seeing someone reverse engineering a lost ancient swordmaking technique that nobody know how

Drift System V3 Is looking good and working really well, its very promising!!! It still need a bunch of work, but it fixed the massive speed loss problem! Also this is using Unity's built in spline package and not Dreamteck. Now the car actually maintains its speed throughout the turn(Even build it up! But that needs to be nerfed ;P) Some more nuance is needed to refine this even more, like some way to calculate a tangent if I'm inside the curve or outside. That red arrow shows where the car should be traveling along the spline. Right now it just follows the Spline Arrow's orientation. Right now the drift system is turned up way high in this example because this free Sketchfab track really isn't ideal. Also yes I was doing car ballet to the music lol.
