being chronically ill sucks so bad because when you feel a little better you’re like wow i really want a full life and to be a person again!! but then you know it’s only temporary and you’ll be in the trenches again soon. awful lol

@Ashley_Dyane @scribblepawz i'm 22, autistic, on the adhd diagnosis waiting list, and i use stims at work — i work retail, and neither my coworkers or customers have ever had a problem with it. sometimes some teenagers will give me funny glances but aside from that, it really isn't an issue

@scribblepawz I understand they can be helpful for a lot of people however, I also believe that we need to treat people how to go through life without needing to have something to mess with or play with because honestly, you're gonna get employed somewhere. You can't mess around with toys.

i hate it when fidget toys go viral cus neurotypical kids always end up ruining it and getting them banned from schools when neurodivergent kids actually need them

@scribblepawz 22 now, but when i got diagnosed with autism at 15~ish when fidget spinners were hella popular, literally every stim and fidget toy got banned. their alternative? giving me an 'exit card' to leave for 5 mins when i was overwhelmed (i did not take only 5 mins)

@_toya_aoyagi_ doesn't end up being what you think it is, and there's no shame in that either way. it would take a lot of effort to consistently fake something, i think you'd know in the end if it was all some kind of elaborate fictitious thing <3

@_toya_aoyagi_ the best advice i can give is; if your symptoms cause distress or problems in daily life, it's considered a disorder, no matter what the disorder is. your struggle with your symptoms shows at the very least that what you're experiencing is real, even if it (1/2)
