I recently joined a design challenge with @designersspace_ to try and stretch myself beyond the norm.
But I won’t lie, I didn’t do much stretching on this one because I was running low on time.
Well, I completed the task in a short time, I guess that counts as stretching…

My name is Okoye Chukwuemeka. I have been hired 113 times on Upwork as a freelancer working from Nigeria. Most of these came through job invitations and direct messages.
I have completed over 3000 hours on the platform, and I have helped many people hit their first $15k, $10k, $8k, $4k, $2k and more on Upwork.
I did not do anything special. I am not more talented than most of you with valuable digital skills.
After reviewing countless Upwork profiles, I discovered one universal mistake. Most freelancers simply do not understand how the platform works.
If you do not understand how the platform works, you will struggle to make money on it.
Long story short, I created practical step by step videos on my YouTube channel to help you understand Upwork properly and start earning faster.
STEP 1. HOW TO OPTIMIZE YOUR PROFILE
m.youtube.com/watch?v=pPuUE1…
STEP 2. HOW TO GET JOB INVITES WITHOUT SPENDING CONNECTS
m.youtube.com/watch?v=aLVq1N…
STEP 3. HOW TO APPLY FOR JOBS THE RIGHT WAY
m.youtube.com/watch?v=tgD7Mr…
If you are serious about succeeding on Upwork, watch these three videos and implement what you learn.

@EldestStarz Don't shout na. 🤣🤣 And canva has even increased the price of their subscription. So, apparently, free forever is not that free. 🤣

If you are a designer looking to have a standout portfolio, my advice to you is to collaborate with brand designers
Build collaborative projects together that you both can add to your portfolio
Add if you are a mobile apps designer, I highly recommend you collaborate with Junior mobile devs and work on collaborative projects together
It's a win-win situation
But sadly, we designers do not collaborate enough

@Johnogaga4 My partner and I had to write a contract termination letter today and we forfeited what we would have earned from the work we had done because the client kept shifting the goal post every time. So we decided it was best we withdrew before we went neck deep.
English

Last week, I turned down a job offer from a startup.
The contract didn’t align with the conversations we had. What was written in the offer letter and what was discussed verbally were two very different things.
I’ve been in that situation before, accepting a role without properly reviewing the contract and it didn’t end well. So this time, I took my time. I read every single line carefully, and even used AI to help me identify potential pitfalls, vague clauses, and inconsistencies.
And honestly, I found a lot. Enough red flags to make me realize it wasn’t worth the risk.
Contracts are binding. Once you sign, you’re legally agreeing to every single detail, whether it favors you or not. So if it’s not clear, fair, or aligned with your understanding, walk away.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned (and want other creatives to take seriously), it’s this 👉
Always read your contract word for word.
And if possible, have someone else review it too, a mentor, a colleague, or even a lawyer.
It might save you from a lot of future headaches.

@thekidcentury @ozenua_ Do they usually tell if their wives would need to give inputs?
English

@ozenua_ This is why we always ask in the beginning.
Are you the sole approver? 🥲 Or are there any other Stake Holders that I should be aware of?
English

@ShawnBasquiat This is true Shawn, even though my use of AI has barely scratched the surface, it boosts my workflow!!!
English
