We're calling on all levels of government to step up and provide more supports to Calgarians on low and fixed incomes struggling to deal with high inflation and interest rates.

The cost of living crisis continues to push more people through the cracks, with over 3,000 new Calgary families connecting with us since June 2021 looking for supports to make ends meet. The first 6 months of 2022 we've seen a 19% increase cover the last 6 months of 2021.

#DidYouKnow that hunger and food insecurity refer to different things. Hunger refers to the physical sensation of discomfort that is felt when our bodies need more energy and nutrients, whereas food insecurity refers to the lack of financial resources for food.

These payments will be sent as a lump sum and are equivalent to doubling the GST rebate cheques that were sent in October and January. To be eligible, you will have needed to file your 2021 taxes. For more information on filing you can visit risecalgary.ca/taxes-and-bene….

We’re excited to announce the government has passed the proposed doubling of GST rebates! This temporary change to the rebate is critical to helping low and modest income Canadians cope with high inflation and the ongoing cost of living increases we are seeing.

Soap n Suds is a community-run initiative providing free shower facilities to anyone in need. The program is looking for volunteers to help sign people in, hand out toiletries, and sanitize showers Ernie Starr + Rise Calgary each week. Send us a DM if you're available to help

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. Overdose is often a silent killer and it touches the lives of thousands of Albertans every year, from all walks of life. At Rise Calgary we've seen an increase in overdoses in our communities.

Membership is free and those who become members can help to guide the direction of our organization with their vote at our Annual General Meeting, an annual event where we connect and celebrate with our community.
