i remember some global democracy index had termed india as an “electoral autocracy” some five or so years ago. with the state carrying out disenfranchisement through the SIR on an unprecedented scale, the “electoral” in “electoral autocracy” has become redundant.

@lolopantz it’s v difficult to come to terms with one’s mediocrity. it’s your humility that makes you think you’re mediocre (you’re not, but like you said, nothing wrong in being one) and ig that’s the only way to keep striving to become better. this thread was too real and relatable 🫂

@simpcelle I think they're supposed to turn on the AC. I sat in a rapido cab yesterday and as soon as the driver put the pin, the app announced that AC is supposed to be put on. I think it's the same with Uber. Driver's are probably reluctant to switch on ACs since it eats up the gas.

most imp lesson i’ve learnt in my employment era: never be honest and forthcoming about your mental illness and struggles with your colleagues and seniors. they will start seeing you in a different light altogether (read incapable), and will actively deny you growth opportunities
