Just over 7 years ago I handed in my first development bible for Thunderbirds are Go. My conversations and collaboration with Giles Ridge and the wonderful team at ITV began even earlier than that. For me this moment is almost 10 years in the making.

@EldritchNexus Not that I can remember. Another example though of using a crew member to name something in the show. We did this every chance we could.

@madisonbateman @TAGwriters On the WGA website there is a massive file listing all the unclaimed levy $. 100% guarantee you'll find a show you worked on. I check every few years and always find one. Sometimes shows/episodes/names are spelled wrong. Or are in French. (might need to be a member to access)

One of the biggest influences on my path to become a writer began with the Von Erichs. I grew up in North Dallas at their peak. They were heroes. Having had the chance to see them in person (several times) is something I'll always treasure.

Want to amend this thread by saying that I know there are many of you out there that actually ARE making a living as a freelance animation writer. By that fact alone, you are amazing, talented and deserve a whole lot more than you are currently being given.

Ultimately, the incremental cost increase of a writing staff vs an all freelance show is nothing compared to the total budget of a production. As soon as it becomes an accepted expense of making a show, studios won't even blink. Won't be easy, but it can happen. It MUST happen.

A staff-written show is better. Better for the show, better for the writer. But there is a much bigger issue here that this chart shows very clearly.
