People ask me how you get someone who’s brainwashed out of a cult. The short answer is, you can’t, but there’s a catch. Let me explain.
Being in an authoritarian cult is like living in a 360-degree interactive virtual reality movie theater that has such advanced technology you perceive it like the real world. Or, think about “Truman Show” if you’ve seen it.
The cult leader is the movie theater operator and their minions have a clear set of jobs:
—Recruit people to come TO the theater
—Entice them to come INTO the theater
—Close the door and DON’T let them leave. If they do, punish them
—Keep the movie projector on at all times to TRAP them in a different reality
As long as the door is closed to the movie theater people are trapped in, trying to intrude on their reality is like someone pointing a flashlight directly into their eyes or talking in their ear at the movies. They immediately want it to stop.
In reality, this effect is called “cognitive dissonance” which is mental pain caused by a dissociative disorder induced by repetitive trauma. This trauma can be caused by propaganda and psychological warfare—which has been done to tens of millions of people.
This means trying to force someone out of a cult while they are still in the movie theater created for them is nearly impossible. What must be done is the projector in the movie theater has to be shut off and the lights turned on, so people can find own way out. Some will immediately find the exit, while it will take some time for others to realize what happened to them.
Regardless, the solution to helping someone who’s brainwashed is to stop them from being brainwashed. It’s really that simple.
The job of people who know someone trapped in a cult/movie theater is to make sure they know you are still outside waiting for them when they’re ready to come out, or sit quietly with them in the theater for a little while and hand them some popcorn.
In other words, be there for them, stay in touch, but don’t fight them about what they’ve been programmed to believe. This just makes you the enemy. It makes them hate you and want to stay in the theater even more.
The way we get our loved ones back is to defeat the transnational criminal conspiracy creating and operating the movie theater trapping millions of people. We know who’s running this malevolent show, we know how it works, and we know how to stop it.
Now, we just have to do something about it.

Jane is a Christian mom in a purple state. She goes to church every Sunday and votes Democratic, even though she has lots of conservative friends. One day Jane’s friend sends her a text: “Jane, you HAVE TO LOOK AT THIS” It’s a video, ten minutes long, called “Pedogate.” Jane clicks on it. The video is well-produced and hypnotic. Lush scenes of American life are layered with droning music and dark predictions for the future. Then they start talking about children — 800,000 per year according to the video — taken off the streets and tortured. Scenes of child abuse are shown in graphic detail with pictures of Hillary, Soros and Obama with dire warnings that they are coming for your kids next. Jane is traumatized by what she’s seen. The scenes of abuse cause her to dissociate — which is how the mind protects itself from information that is too painful to process. Jane’s mind “depersonalizes” to try to understand what she’s seen. She feels like she is “outside her own body” watching from a distance. When the video is over Jane is in shock. While the claims in the video seem outlandish, she cannot stop thinking about it. What if it’s real? Even some of it. Jane feels like she can’t just ignore it. She texts her friend back and tells her how horrified she is by what she’s seen. “Come over. We’ll have wine. I’ll show you my research.” That evening, Jane goes to her friend’s house and they spend hours together watching videos and surfing websites. The depravity and horror of what she sees is shattering — so many children. So many. But at least Jane is with her friend who encourages her to keep watching. “I know it’s hard but we have to save the children.” Save the children. Who could argue with that? For the next few months, Jane spends hours with her friend every Sunday “researching.” She feels like it’s her responsibility to understand what’s going on and do more. “Come to our Telegram channel. Do you have the app?” Now Jane can talk to people just like her all the time — people who are worried about the children. Worried about the corruption. Worried about America. They may have different politics than she does but it doesn’t matter. This is for the children. Jane starts to prioritize her research over other things in life. Her friends on Telegram have given her a new purpose, a new goal. Save the children. Her family notices the change. She seems distant. She seems different. Jane is angry. Her family and friends just don’t understand. They think all her work and her research is a waste of time. Jane just wants to stop the children suffering. Anyone who isn’t on board with that — well, maybe they’re never going to understand. Maybe they’re the pedos. Jane has thousands of new friends who have woken up to what’s going on. Maybe that’s her real family after all. Jane starts sending videos to everyone she knows. She wants them to see what she’s seen. She wants them to feel what she felt. Save the children. Jane’s mom and her brother join her on Telegram. Her sister thinks they’re all crazy and argues with her research. She says Jane’s changed. She says he doesn’t know who Jane is anymore and to stop sending her videos and memes. Infuriated, Jane sends her sister a text before she blocks her: “I always knew you were a pedo.” Jane sinks deeper into her new group. They encourage her to disconnect from the non-believers. They love bomb her when she shares the right memes and says the right things. Over time, they convince her that Trump is not the bad guy the libs have been portraying him as after all. Her new family loves him. She loves him too. He wants to save the children. One day she sees on Telegram that there’s a “wild protest” coming up and everyone’s going. Jane still has some savings left — what could be more important than this? Jane decides to go, no matter what her sister says. Time to take action. Save the children. Trust the plan.

The entire population of the United States has been adversely affected by Russian-backed psychological warfare.
At least one-third have been directly affected by undue influence caused by psychological operations which created an alternate reality for them.
Coercive, traumatic propaganda combined with social engineering has been intentionally tuned to create a weapon of mass mental destruction:
—The vast majority of the GOP believe the Big Lie.
—Tens of millions believe Pizzagate & QAnon fiction.
—Tens of millions of others are adjacent to QAnon through infiltration into Christian churches, “PastelAnon” & other derivatives.
The people affected by these lies are living in a different world where monsters—like “Satanic pedophile demonrats”—actually exist to threaten their children and haunt their thoughts all day long.
At this point, everyone not directly affected by undue influence knows someone who has been. Anyone who has lost a neighbor, friend, or family member to MAGA/QAnon+ has been affected.
Losing someone you care about to an invisible, undeclared war is traumatic. Having a loved one *replaced* by a stranger is a living nightmare. The entire nation has been traumatized & no one even acknowledges it.
This central, obvious truth—that we’re all the target of a foreign attack being orchestrated by domestic traitors—is being hidden from us. This is wrong—morally, tactically, and strategically.
We are in a global information war that is threatening to turn kinetic. The sides have been drawn and everyone sees it, everyone feels that this is moving towards violence. The biggest mistake we can make is to deprive civilians of the information they need to navigate this threat.
Allowing people to hide their heads in the sand while we continue to treat this as politics is how we lose our democracy.

When the owner of this website, the richest man in the world, the most followed-man on Twitter, constantly, daily, hourly, posts again and again to tens of millions of followers that the media lies, that the media can’t be trusted, that all media is corrupt and dishonest, you don’t think that has a massive effect not just on trust and polarization in society, but on election outcomes and political messaging? Especially when it comes after years of Donald Trump doing the exact same thing?
If Dems, and liberals in general, don’t understand the way in which Musk, Trump and co have cynically created an unpenetrable bubble around their followers, primed them against a reality-based universe, pre-emptively undermined any negative stories about themselves, then Dems and liberals will never be able to ‘win’ - in terms of narratives or elections. It’s key to everything. It’s at the heart of everything.

Democratic leaders have long known that our elections can be hacked. Likewise, they have long known that there is no way to determine if hacking has or hasn’t occurred without forensic analysis, manual recounts, or rigorous manual audits. They also know that Rs blocked legislation that wld have required rigorous manual audits for all federal races & that MAGAs breached voting systems in swing states. This is maddening. Speaking of the 2004 election in Ohio, John Kerry told Brian Lehrer in 2018 that “The problem for us was we were doubting whether the [voting] machines themselves had been appropriately measured & whether the algorithms were correct, etc. We challenged that ahead of time by the way. People don’t know that. And we were told by the court that we were not able to get that algorithm, to check it, bc it was proprietary information. And I believe that it was absolutely incorrect that in the United States of America, the election for the presidency of the United States should somehow be the purview of privately owned machines where the public doesn’t have the right to know whether the algorithms can be checked or whether they are hackable or not. And we now know they are hackable. But we knew as we sat there to decide where to go in terms of the challenge, that we were a nation at war, we had just been through a Supreme Court test of an election four years earlier. I thought once I measured it that whatever constitutional challenge we brought or whatever appropriate challenge we brought to the ballots that were counted, it was going to wind up ultimately in the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court would do the same thing that it did before. We would take the country through a three month exercise with a 5/4 decision that would award the presidency back to George Bush. Now some people may think that’s the right thing to have done. I thought it would have been horrendous for our country one year into a war, at that moment when there were serious doubts about terrorism and other things, to be going through a long period of questioning of the presidency, and I didn’t think it was the right thing to do for the nation.” 1/ @VP @marceelias
