The majority of that money never gets to the homeless. It goes to non-profits who then pay salaries and "operational costs." In some NGOs as little as .17 cents for every dollar goes to services. I will say that @salvationarmysf, .85 cents per dollar goes to programs.

Don’t you realize that a billionaire tax or middle-class tax hikes are just the results? The direct cause is government budget deficits. And the root cause of these huge deficits is actually massive waste, corruption, and fraud. If we can cut the root cause—cut off the snake's head—everything else will naturally be resolved. Anyone who has tried to help a loved one struggling with severe addiction knows — it’s long past time for a hard conversation. We need to talk about how we can compel care for those who are so deep in the throes of addiction that they can’t make a rational decision about their own well-being and are having an outsized impact on our emergency services and everyone else’s quality of life.
