Dear Twitterverse, No, I am not going to conduct a background check on every person before I retweet them. If I think what they tweet is interesting, I will re-tweet. That doesn't mean I endorse everything they have ever said or done. Clear enough? Regards, @tabberg

It’s embarrassing that the FBI had to step in because we failed to do our job. Bad actors are exploiting the system, and instead of fixing it, my opponents want to put more money into it. That’s not a solution, it’s an invitation for more abuse. I won’t ask you to pay more, I’ll make government work better. cbsnews.com/amp/news/hospi…

Tulsa carved 2,847 rumble strips into a bridge on Route 66. Drive eastbound at exactly 35 mph and your tires play “This Land Is Your Land.” Mechanical. No speakers. Cost: $90,000 for 19 seconds of music. About $4,700 per second. Guthrie was born about 75 miles away in Okemah, Oklahoma. He wrote the song in 1940. It came home.

@sissenberg @nytimes A correction will appear in tomorrow's print edition: "A headline with an article on Friday about President Trump’s threats to leave NATO misstated the full name of the body. It is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, not the North American Treaty Organization."

Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States. Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan." This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States. The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.

42 CRF 488.10 provides that the state shall conduct a survey to determine if "prospective providers meet the Medicare conditions of participation or requirements." The Calif. Dept. of Public Health is that agency. Calif signed an agreement with HHS that it would perform this task. So these Hospices are able to bill Medicare ONLY because 1) Calif issued them a license, and 2) Calif. verified they met the "conditions of participation." This is a CALIFORNIA PROBLEM. This is a GAVIN NEWSOM PROBLEM.
Governor Newsom Press Office@GovPressOffice

There’s a reason Bill Essayli is First Assistant, not a US Attorney: It’s because he can’t get basic facts right. What he told the NY Comic Book, that Medicare is “administered through the states,” is FLAT OUT FALSE. FACT: CMS runs Medicare. That’s a federal department running a federal program — not a state one. While you phone Dr. Oz for some clarity, here’s some more info for you: medicare.gov/about-us/how-i… Or you can talk to the FBI agent who signed the affidavit for one of the criminal complaints YOUR office filed yesterday, who also knows this:

.@TomSteyer is throwing out promises like promotional t-shirts at a Lakers game because he's desperate. He has blown through $100 Million on his campaign only to stall out in 5th place. 1) He is claiming he can convince the Legislature to appropriate $200 BILLION per year to build government homes. 2) The average time it takes from start (permit application) to sale (completed housing) in CA is 49 MONTHS - 4 years and 1 month. The guy is not a serious candidate, just a rich one.
Tom Steyer@TomSteyer

Young Californians aren't doing anything wrong. They're just living in a state that stopped building homes. I'll build one million homes in four years.

The Trump EPA recently rescinded the 2009 Obama EPA Endangerment Finding in the single largest deregulatory action in U.S. history (over $1.3 TRILLION!). As a result, new vehicles will be $2.4k more affordable for American families. Without apology, every day I’ll continue to pursue new ways to limit the power of my office to the best reading of the law. We will adhere strictly to the Supreme Court’s ruling in Loper Bright overturning the Chevron Doctrine.

When people realize that Mississippi is spending between $10-$13k per pupil & has gone from 49th in education to 9th in the nation in 13 years, & that they did so by switching to a pre-90s phonics curriculum instead of just flooding a bad system with more money. They'll revolt
Charlie Smirkley@charliesmirkley

🔴 Red states spend $14.0k per pupil. 🔵 Blue states spend $21.2k. NAEP composite (math + reading 4 and 8): 🔴 244.9 🔵 245.3 Correlations w/ NAEP composite across 50 states and DC. Raw spend: r = +0.07 and Income-adjusted: r = −0.14.

Christina Koch was a firefighter at the South Pole at -111°F before she ever applied to be an astronaut. That was maybe the fourth most interesting line on her resume. She grew up in North Carolina, got three degrees from NC State, and her first real job was building deep-space instruments at NASA. Then she left for Antarctica. Spent three and a half years bouncing between the Arctic and Antarctic as a research scientist, including a full winter at the South Pole base. That means going months without sunlight or fresh food, with a crew of about 50 people and no way out until flights resume. While she was down there, she also joined the glacier search-and-rescue team. After coming back, she went to Johns Hopkins and built instruments for two NASA missions (one of them is still orbiting Jupiter right now). She figured out how to start a tiny vacuum pump that NASA designed for a future Mars rover. Johns Hopkins nominated it for their Invention of the Year in 2009. Then she went back to the field. More time in Antarctica and a stretch up in Greenland. A government research station in northern Alaska, near the top of the world. Then she ran another one in American Samoa, near the equator. In 2013, NASA selected her from 6,300 applicants. Eight people got in. Her first space mission was supposed to be a normal rotation on the International Space Station, but NASA extended it. She ended up staying 328 straight days and orbiting Earth 5,248 times, covering about 139 million miles (roughly 291 round trips to the Moon). Up there, she ran over 210 experiments, including tests of cancer drugs in zero gravity and 3D printers that can build structures close to human tissue. Six spacewalks, 42 hours floating outside the station. She learned Russian for the training. She flies supersonic jets. Right now, Koch is on Artemis II, heading for a flyby behind the far side of the Moon. The crew launched on April 1 and is on track to travel about 252,000 miles from Earth, which would break the all-time human distance record of 248,655 miles set by Apollo 13 in 1970. That record has stood for 56 years, and it was set during a disaster that nearly killed the crew. Fred Haise, one of the Apollo 13 astronauts, is 92 now. He told Koch: "I heard you're going to break our record." Nobody had left Earth's neighborhood since December 1972. Koch and her three crewmates are the first in 53 years, and they are coming home at about 25,000 mph. That is faster than any crewed spacecraft has ever come back through the atmosphere.

BREAKING🚨: Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch officially becomes the farthest any woman has ever traveled from Earth.

A lot of people are dunking on this, and it’s true, she should have paid the $60 per month for 20 years and let the forgiveness kick in. But what they’re missing is that she was loaned $65k for a terminal master’s in historic preservation. That should never have happened. Tuition has skyrocketed because the ability of students to pay it has completely decoupled from how much money they or their families can afford. Colleges charge infinity dollars because students have access to infinity student loans. In many cases students hoping a credential will lead to a better life get duped into indenturing themselves permanently to get worthless terminal master’s degrees. If the loans didn’t exist, then the master’s programs wouldn’t exist, and if the master’s programs didn’t exist then employers wouldn’t be looking for job applicants with master’s degrees which don’t even connote any real skills. Burn this whole rotten system down.
