@thacker182 Make sure your custom callback handler is included in Kafka's classpath. Also, verify your sasl.jaas.config includes the correct class name for your handler. Adding logging in your handler can help troubleshoot if it's being executed.

@__r_A_9__ I have attempted to implement a custom callback handler that generates the user token instead of the client's and passes it to Kafka. However, Kafka does not appear to recognize the class, despite my adding it in the recommended manner.

@thacker182 set up a middleware service? This service can handle the ROPC flow with Keycloak and then issue a client_credentials token to Kafka on behalf of the user. It's an extra layer, but it allows you to use ROPC for initial authentication while sticking to Kafka's supported grant type

@__r_A_9__ I have already configured the aforementioned parameters. However, based on my research, Kafka only supports the client_credentials grant type rather than the ROPC (Resource Owner Password Credential) grant type. This discrepancy is causing difficulties in authorizing Kafka topics

@thacker182 Create a realm and client, and configure it for the password grant type. Set up OAuth2 authentication in Kafka brokers and clients with the OAuthBearerLoginModule. You might face challenges with token handling and security.
