Japa doesn’t erase who you were. It quietly tests who you are becoming. 🇨🇦 One thing that hits you quickly abroad is how much everyday “normal behaviour” changes. Take something as simple as needing to use the restroom. Back home🇳🇬, you might see someone casually step aside by the roadside, unzip, and handle business quickly. It’s almost treated like nothing by the majority. 😩 Too bad! Try that in a developed country… and reality will remind you fast: public space rules are strict, and consequences are real. A small vacation in jail will await you for being a public nuisance. You can't even think or try it in a hidden corner. 😂 You must always remember to gauge your water intake, and be conscious that once you are exiting any building, try to use the lavatory, because it may be difficult for you to find a public building to make an entrance to use. Japa is not just relocation. It is re-learning how to live within a new rulebook. And the earlier you adapt, the easier life becomes. What’s one “normal back home” habit that shocked you when you moved abroad? 😂
