Mon frère, you honestly can’t compare the football we played under Jose Peseiro to what the team is producing now. As a Barça fan, you should understand the importance of having a recognizable playing style. This isn’t about sentiment of ‘zombies’ matter, it’s about what’s clearly visible on the pitch. We got to the AFCON finals in Côte d’Ivoire and only fell short at the last hurdle. In fact, several players picked up long-term injuries after the tournament because of the intense defensive structure and work rate required by that system. Unlike now, we have a clear identity and style of play.. we lost to the host nations in a semifinal game, come on.

I woke up this morning reflecting on the work Eric Chelle has done with the Super Eagles. Football is often unfair to its builders. We celebrate the harvest and forget the farmer. When Eric Chelle accepted the assignment, he inherited a team whose World Cup qualification hopes were hanging by a thread. It was not a glamorous appointment, but a rescue mission. Yet, he embraced the challenge with courage and clarity of purpose. For a man many dismissed because his CV did not glitter with big names and grand accomplishments, he has shown that competence is not always announced by reputation. Sometimes, it reveals itself in the work. In a matter of months, we have watched a coach steadily grow into the role. ✅️He has given the team an identity. ✅️He has been bold enough to trust new and fringe players. ✅️He has shown tactical flexibility, finding solutions even when some of the squad's most dangerous weapons were unavailable. ✅️He has improved his in-game management. Most importantly, he appears to have rebuilt something that cannot be measured by statistics—the spirit within the camp. The players speak well of him. They believe in his ideas and that's what matters. So, I find it curious that some have chosen to place the full weight of Nigeria's World Cup disappointment on his shoulders. Not every outcome is the product of one man. Neither is every failure. If we are honest, Eric Chelle inherited a problem he did not create and made it more competitive than many thought possible. He also deserves his flowers. And if you cannot see the progress, perhaps the question is not whether good work has been done. Perhaps the question is whether you still recognise good work when you see it? It is whether you have chosen to be inundated by bias and sentiments or fanatics spurred by hatred. Choose one! Selah!
