@TomPark1n What number did she call? We’ve been calling the main number and it just tells you that no agents are available and ends the call. Family of 4 stranded in Calgary trying to get back to London. Thanks for any info!

@Klingebeil It’s amazing how quickly they’ve become the default in hybrid working contexts (as well as remote) - even when people are together in the office

@amasad Yes! We’ve come full circle - amateurs are recast as users

Programmers will command armies of software agents to build increasingly complex software in insane record times. Non-programmers will also be able to use these agents to get software tasks done. Everyone in the world will be at least John Carmack-level software capable.

I don't think people understand the monumental changes coming to software this decade. Quick thread:

The rise of the User is the return of the Amateur. With one key difference: software empowers Users with the best known Techniques. Read more in our new edition of Frames here: stripepartners.substack.com/p/this-months-…

Tools like Dall-E promise to provide Amateurs access to the best known methods. Time will tell which Techniques will pass to the realm of the User, and which will be retained by experts.

Jacques Ellul perceived our obsession with Technique was turning Craftspeople into Technicians (thanks for the tip @jamestplunkett ). But he didn’t predict how software would turn Technicians into Users

@hautepop Love this insight. Also I’ve always thought there’s a contradiction between the interests of the user (find a good match quickly) and the dating platform (ongoing revenue)

My theory of What’s Wrong With Straight Dating Apps is there’s a preparedness mismatch. Women sign up when they’re ready and motivated, and write by & large excellent profiles. Men sign up the second they’re single (if not before). Hence 60/40 (or worse) gender imbalances.

I swear journalists are the only men worth talking to on dating apps: because they’re the only men to ~ask questions~

Yesterday @willpageauthor was in our office for a brilliant talk about his critically acclaimed book "Tarzan Economics". We recommend checking it out and giving his podcast "Bubble Trouble" a listen: lnkd.in/gEaV5C2N Thanks Will, it was a pleasure having you!

@berkun It’s an important distinction but is often used to dismiss what people say. What they say reveals their desires and aspirations. What they do reveals their current constraints/experience. A good researcher explores the intersection of both.

There's the classic adage in user research about "what people say vs. what they do." What's your favorite example for how far apart the two can be? #ux #design

@thoy @shumonbasar @DougCoupland @HUObrist Good little article. Definitely agree with community being a big aspect of web3’s rise. Extreme self is an interesting concept. I’d say the “yearning” self — what people wish they were — might be a better way of framing it.

I was late to this book, but I highly recommend it if you want an artful, visually arresting thesis on the direction our identities are shifting. goodreads.com/book/show/5832…

In my interpretation of the book I try more explicit the idea of the “Sensing Self”, which is alluded to. I think it’s a useful counterpoint to understand why our physical identities are equally compromised as our online selves, but for different reasons.
