Today, I’m proud to announce the AI Dividend, my plan to prepare for the AI economy with direct payments to Americans funded by tax reform that simultaneously incentivizes hiring humans instead of AI.

You may not be paying attention to falling fertility.
But you will. Case in point:
Stunning declines projected in public school enrollment by 2031: "2.7 million fewer students, from FY22 to FY31."

Marc Porter Magee 🎓@marcportermagee
I don’t think people have fully absorbed just how big the declines in student enrollment are going to be. Eight states are projected to experience DOUBLE DIGIT declines by 2031.

This Olympic figure skater Alysa Liu explains that the name is pronounced "Lee Oh" as she sits down for an interview and casually explains that everyone butchers her name but it’s totally fine — her family calls her A-Lisa anyway, so she’s cool with however people say it.
Would you be mad that the whole world gets your name wrong every single day or would you be chill about it?

The job apocalypse isn't coming in 10 years.
It's happening RIGHT NOW. 🚨
- Waymo: 500,000 driverless paid rides every week. No humans needed.
- Amazon: Over 1 million warehouse robots sorting faster than people ever could.
- China: Robot chefs cooking 100+ dishes, robot attendants pumping gas.
- Boston Dynamics: Humanoids filming stunts and operating cameras.
- Robots now repairing live high-voltage power lines — too dangerous for humans.
This isn't sci-fi. It's today.
Which job do you think will be the LAST one robots can't take?
Quote/RT if you're watching this unfold 👀 #AI

Dario Amodei said 50% of entry-level white collar jobs would vanish within 1-5 years.
He said it 11 months ago. Here's what the data shows now.
Big Tech allocates 7% of new hires to recent graduates. Pre-pandemic it was 15%. Cut in half.
Startups went from 30% in 2019 to under 6% today. An 80% collapse.
Handshake postings for new grads are down 16% year over year. The average listing gets 26% more applications.
Stanford economists tracked 22-25 year olds in AI-exposed occupations. Employment is down 13% since 2022.
Oxford Economics: 85% of the rise in US unemployment since mid-2023 comes from new grads who cannot land entry-level roles.
The timeline everyone argues about is the wrong timeline. The replacement curve for existing workers is slow. The no-longer-hire curve for their replacements already ran.
Mid and senior hiring rebounded in 2024. Only the bottom rung broke. Companies stopped hiring at the entry tier without firing anywhere else.
Anthropic's own CPO said it months ago: future hires are orchestrators of Claudes. Claudes do the entry-level work.
The forecast everyone called bold was a lagging indicator.

If everyday jobs are automatable, it would be a major game changer, easing the labor shortage concerns of fast aging societies.

For the first time in Norwegian history, a bus will carry passengers in regular traffic without any human behind the wheel. The first pilot without a safety driver was tested Friday, and if all goes as planned, anyone can ride driverless buses starting in May.

@jozefandrew1 I think it's better to fund 100 bums to get 1 gold nugget, because no one knows who is one and you have to support them all to find them. That's the UBI principle.

As a devil’s advocate against my own sympathy for the manic artist, I will say for every 1 dysfunctional creative genius like Helen DeWitt there are 100 incompetent layabouts masquerading as ‘artists’ who would be better served by working the Alberta oil rigs.
I have met several indolent ‘geniuses’ who took 8+ years to finish their perfunctory undergraduate education, some are still ‘writing’ that novel 20 years later. We all know people for whom art is a convenient social cover for sloth and solipsism.
The proof is ultimately in the pudding; does the work eventually appear or not? Eccentricity is justified if grounded in substance. Genius is rarely clean, but there are plenty of bums who are not geniuses.
