in 2021 i applied to a job and got a call in 15 minutes bc my resume said spelman. then i interviewed the next day and was told i got the position an hour after. i moved out of state 2 weeks later with a relocation bonus lmao this shit is so BLEAKKKK

Lower Manhattan will be car-free tomorrow morning for the Knicks Championship Parade.
Starting at 7AM, south of Canal Street in Manhattan is shut down to vehicular traffic.
The FDR and West Side Highway will remain open. Traffic coming off the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan will only be able to go northbound on the FDR.
Plan ahead and use public transportation.

Folks are saying they don’t want to hear soca, dancehall, amanpiano, or afrobeats (which is hard because of NYC’s diversity & DJs are often open format). Many want only Black American music but that’s also not just Hip Hop & R&B. They can also play Go Go, House, Bounce, Funk, etc

The Juneteenth discourse has been the same since I’ve been on this app it’s crazy lol i don’t think there’s anything wrong with black Americans wanting a space for them and them alone where their culture is at the forefront. That shouldn’t be debated at all . Thing is though , NYC is a huge cultural melting pot and will have everyone celebrating it. i do understand the frustration of not being able to easily find a space where they can solely party to the music they want to hear . I know Harlem will have so many of these events so I’d say start there .
