@Msh90041872 yes... as i said... in the specific case of DCK it seems clear that they went with the in-universe reason (ingredients) more so than the real life inspo, they're korean and don't seem to care. with other cultures they chose to mind the representation of them. what's not clicking?

@Msh90041872 MTC is also not value lol in his official look his hair and skin are very close in value, low contrast. in the art his hair is much darker than his skin. again, not how value works. just put it on greyscale and it's very clear, very basic art stuff

@xiaetherx The art with two cookies I agree, they’re much paler but the millennial one they did(not the humanized one) had lighter values and the change of value was not far apart from one another. I checked before and that’s why I responded you that one of it has overall lightened values.

@Msh90041872 i never said it's all ingredients. it's clear to me that when devsis makes cookies inspired by other cultures (like GCK) they're careful to be respectful with representation (which other artists aren't). when that's not the case, they seem to focus more on in-universe reasons.

@Msh90041872 my entire point is (and has been) that there is no reason aside from (intentional or unintenional) colorism and racism to lighten *every single dark-skinned character*. the MTC drawing isn't even humanized, they lightened him as a cookie. YOU brought race and ethnicity into it.
