The UK is considering an American style global tax regime. If you move to zero tax havens like Dubai, you will still be forced to pay British income tax for the privilege of holding a UK passport and getting embassy protection. The tax loopholes might finally close.

Why do rich people always fundraise by asking poorer people to donate to charity? Perhaps if you paid your taxes and paid workers a real living wage there would be less need for charity.

Now would also be a very good time to get serious about reusing/recycling plastic ( using renewable energy) as the oil shortage will put pressure on price and supply. Obvs it will take time but again if we want independence let’s make ourselves independant

We’ve hit rock bottom here guys, unfortunately I can’t see Colmore Row ever getting back to its pristine state, not even 2 years, hundreds of thousands pounds was spent to repave and we now have THREE separate sections of paving stones replaced with tarmac. @BhamColmore

Energy companies should be the ones covering this - they make obscene profits off us already, we cant be squeezed any more. And we need a major transition to clean, renewable energy so these megalomaniacs' wars can't keep screwing us over STAT.

BREAKING: Energy bills are expected to rise by more than £300 this summer as the Middle East conflict pushes up wholesale natural gas prices. 🔗 Read more trib.al/tTY9r5B

3,000 BC: We built Stonehenge, dragging the stones 150 miles without a single environmental impact assessment. 2026: We spend a decade on reports, consultations and legal battles, and still can’t build basic infrastructure. Somewhere along the way, we lost the ability to just get things done.

Staggering After almost 40 years of water privatisation 40 years of £Billions in profits being extracted by shareholders and CEOs 40 years of our water infrastructure being starved of investment 40 years of sewage being dumped illegally in our rivers and seas and our natural world being wrecked by corporate Greed. The Labour Government is still defending the privatised model.
Novara Media@novaramedia

What is the point of keeping water privatised? This was the question Labour MP Barry Gardiner put to Emma Reynolds, the secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs. However, when Reynolds said nationalising water would "cost an enormous amount of money", she was quizzed on where her figures were coming from. According to Gardiner, the Labour government has simply refused to do the maths.

Most people don’t realise where the £180 million actually went at the A303 Stonehenge tunnel project. It wasn’t construction. It was years of: • Environmental impact assessments • Heritage & archaeological studies • Legal challenges and consultations • Design, engineering and traffic modelling • Public inquiries and revisions All before a single shovel hit the ground. This is the real problem in Britain: We don’t just waste money, we build systems that guarantee it. £180 million to build nothing.
Ben Graham tweet media
Ben Graham@BenGrahamUK

The A303 Stonehenge tunnel has been scrapped after years of planning. £180 million. Gone. Not a single mile built. Not a single benefit delivered. Just taxpayer money burned. Who is actually held accountable for this?
