I strongly dislike how Valve have effectively and explicitly named HLTV and Liquipedia as the effective arbitrators of what the "commonly known" name for teams are in Counter-Strike esports. It is another example of Valve abdicating responsibility for the content in their games and their Majors and forcing it on third parties with no help or guidance. It is not talked about openly but behind the scenes it is becoming increasingly common for organizations to approach sites and ask incessantly or even in some cases issue legal threats to try and get title sponsors or sponsor-friendly logos to be used on these sites as these organizations know that they will be financially rewarded for getting sponsors into one of the world's most popular titles; or in some cases be punished for failing to do so. As someone who values editorial independence and the ability for coverage sites to present information in the way they believe best suits their viewers, Valve really needs to put out more clear guidelines about what they want to see in their game and protect coverage sites that are at risk of coercion from organizations with a lot to gain from winning them over.

The CS2 update we have been waiting for is finally here. Valve has created a Beta branch for animgraph2 for third person animations. This is NOT an April fools joke. While everyone was watching the launch of Artemis II, Valve suddenly released what they've been working on for the past couple of years. What this means is that the entire animation system for third person models has been completely redone. No longer does it use the unoptimized Half-Life: Alyx system. This significantly reduces packet size. You can now tell when someone is counter-strafing, and properly predict their movements based on visual feedback. Another massive change here is that the player's view now is accurate to the player model, meaning that we have a variable player height of +-4 units. You'll immediately notice that the player seems shorter. This completely changes many many angles, as well as many utility lineups, particularly when standing on slopes. Notice in my video example how you can no longer see over the Dust2 A site boxes from A ramp. The change is currently in Beta, so it's all subject to change. I will be testing it out extensively and making a video about my thoughts. First impressions: I am VERY excited about this, more so than the Artemis II rocket taking humans back to the moon for the first time in forever.

So... why are we allowing EU teams to play in NA qualifiers when it is specifically against PGL rules? @pglesports are you aware of the fact that Fisher eSports is a team with a European core? What steps do you take to uphold the integrity of your qualifiers? Per your own rule book: "A team’s eligible region and subregion will be determined by citizenship plurality among the players from that VRS region: For each match, the team must field a roster where the largest share (plurality) of relevant player citizenships belongs to the chosen region or subregion. If there is a tie for plurality between two regions or subregions, the team may choose which of the tied subregions it will represent, and must compete in that region or subregion for that match. Competing in an ineligible subregion/region (i.e. not meeting the plurality requirement) will result in disqualification from the tournament at any stage." @V1zL_ @ioiocs2 @pglesports Is that why they fund and recruit full eu players now? Fisher has been around for years building NA players (some call it a mistake to go there) meanwhile VRS shows up and they go full EU.

@ioiocs2 @pglesports Maybe because fisher is a college and not an org? Maybe the college is focused on actual sports to fund their teams and don't see the significance in sending fisher to eu while doing studies at the college. They did it once for a short term because the team was on vacation.

@Crispy1z1 Irrelevant to everything in this thread. And he could enter the country for the majority of that period, he just missed 2 events and then a further 1 event during the renewal periods of his visa which both times was successfully granted.

This shit reminds me of NA teams refusing to even scrim Complexity with hallzerk in EU on Chicago servers where he might have 110 ping and forcing him to play on 135-150 in Dallas and still get stomped. Same thing used to end up happening in officials too, teams would just instantly ban the best server for hallzerk, even if it meant their own pings would be higher.
