Born in 2003 and standing at 1.93 meters, Mintz played his college career at Syracuse University. He became the 66th player in Syracuse history to surpass the 1,000-point mark. In the 2023–2024 NCAA season, Mintz averaged 18.8 points, 4.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game. His performance earned him a nomination to the ACC All-First Team and ultimately led to a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. He continued to showcase his talent in the 2025 NBA Summer League, averaging 16.0 points, 3.6 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steal per game.
