Incredibly worrying & disappointing to see @TowerHamletsNow take this approach. Promises made in 2022 to groups across Tower Hamlets seem to have been reneged on, with little scrutiny. Cancelling effective services & contracts is not best value for our borough!

From today, despite pledging not to increase Council Tax, Mayor Lutfur Rahman will be charging Tower Hamlets residents up to £114 more this year. And despite promising to exempt those on middle incomes, 90,000 households have to pay in full. @TH_Labour voted against this increase

Just discovered the £480,000 a year reduction in spending on the Mayor's nine advisors that we were told would take place in 2025 now won't happen. Instead, these roles are extended at least to the 2026 election. The £1 million cost is one reason he is hiking your Council Tax! 🧐
