FCM welcomes today’s launch of the federal government’s Build Communities Strong Fund. Municipal infrastructure is the backbone of the Canadian economy. Across the country, municipalities are using federal infrastructure funding to get infrastructure projects moving this construction season. With the Direct Delivery Stream, we can accelerate projects and deliver the housing and infrastructure Canadians need—faster. The Community Stream remains the bedrock of federal infrastructure funding—proven, reliable and scalable. A major new partnership will get 1,200 shovel-ready affordable homes built across New Brunswick, with the potential to add up to 300 more. Through Build Canada Homes, we’re working with the Province of New Brunswick to fast-track construction and unlock more deeply affordable housing, including transitional and supportive homes.
