Mississippi State University’s John C. Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development celebrated its 50th anniversary tonight at The Mill honoring five decades of service to Mississippi and beyond. The late Sen. John C. Stennis, who represented Mississippi in the U.S. Senate from 1947-1989 and was a longtime national defense and appropriations policy leader, envisioned the institute at his alma mater, which was established in 1976 as a service and research arm of MSU.

Keenum spoke to Jackson Academy’s Senior Scholarship Ceremony today where he welcomed 15 future Bulldogs including two MSU Presidential Scholars, Morgan Cheatham and Justina Visgarra. Hinds Community College students welcomed MSU President Mark E. Keenum to the Raymond Campus today. A graduate of the Mississippi community college system , Keenum talked to the students about the “Importance of Higher Education,” highlighting many of the opportunities available to them as transfers to Mississippi State. During the day, Keenum and Hinds President Stephen Vacik also renewed an honors college academic transfer agreement between the institutions.

Mississippi State club sports bass fishing team members are qualifiers for the 2027 Major League Fishing National Championship after recently placing in the top 15 at a regular season tournament in Alabama. tinyurl.com/5n89w9zx

MSU President Mark E. Keenum visited with students from Corinth High School today about the opportunities available to them at MSU. Keenum is a Corinth High School alum and was named the school’s Distinguished Alum of the Year in 2011.
