⛽ 𝗭𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘄𝗲’𝘀 𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗽 While ZERA’s official blended petrol price is 𝗨𝗦$𝟮.𝟭𝟳, many service stations have already pushed this to 𝗨𝗦$𝟮.𝟭𝟵 to cover their own rising logistics costs. This marks a staggering 𝟯𝟵% 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸 in less than a month, making Zimbabwe’s fuel the most expensive in the SADC region. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁" 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: * 💸 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻: For every litre of petrol sold at $2.17, nearly 𝟴𝟲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 (𝟰𝟬%) goes directly to the government in taxes and levies. This includes the Carbon Tax ($0.04), ZINARA Road Levy ($0.02), and a massive $0.30 Import Duty. * 🛣️ 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀: The government is talking about "alternative routes," but we are geographically tethered to the 𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗮-𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲. While there are talks of a new $1.3bn pipeline from Beira and even a $1bn "Dangote pipeline" from Namibia, these are decade-long projects that offer no relief today. * 📉 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶: With fuel prices this high, a "cost-push" inflation wave is inevitable. Transport operators are already increasing fares by $0.50 during peak hours, and the cost of basic goods like bread and mealie-meal will follow as haulage costs spike. * 🏢 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸: When 40% of the pump price is a self-inflicted tax, it strangles the productive sector. If the government doesn't review these levies, we risk a serious economic slowdown as businesses cut production to survive the energy costs. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲: Opening the market to more players and reducing the 𝟴𝟲-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 tax take is the only way to dampen the blow. Without a radical overhaul of domestic fuel policy, the "single-digit inflation" goal for 2026 is quickly becoming a pipe dream. 🇿🇼 📲 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱: 𝗵𝘁𝘁𝗽𝘀://𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗽.𝗰𝗼𝗺/𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹/𝟬𝟬𝟮𝟵𝗩𝗮𝟳𝗧𝘃𝗴𝗻𝗙𝗦𝗔𝘁𝗖𝟳𝗾𝗟𝟲𝗩𝗶𝟯𝘅 #𝗭𝗶𝗺𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 #𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗹𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 #𝗭𝗘𝗥𝗔 #𝗭𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 #𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲

National Foods has acquired the former Unilever manufacturing property located on 2 Stirling Road, a move set to provide the physical runway for the group’s aggressive expansion into high-margin FMCG categories.   The site, which sits adjacent to the existing National Foods Stirling Road complex, was acquired after Unilever wound down its local manufacturing operations years ago. CEO Mike Lashbrook said: "Over the long term, NF will expand its existing Flour, Pasta, and Biscuit operations onto the former Unilever site."

STRONGER RAND HITS LUCKY STAR OWNER Oceana Group, Africa’s largest fishing company, has reported a dip in operating profit for the five months ending 22 February 2026. Despite consistent revenue, the owner of Lucky Star faced a perfect storm of an 80% collapse in South African fishmeal production and a 45% plunge in global fish oil prices. A severe shortage of anchovy and red-eye herring landings drove unit costs higher, while a stronger Rand eroded export earnings. However, the Lucky Star division remained a resilient standout, with sales volumes growing 6.7% as consumers increasingly turned to canned fish as an affordable protein source. 🚨💣 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: Sky Bet has officially announced and already processed payouts to all customers who bet on Morocco to win the 2025 AFCON. 🇲🇦🏆 This follows CAF’s ruling that stripped Senegal of the title and awarded Morocco the trophy via a 3-0 forfeit. Their exact statement: "The result of the 2025 AFCON final has been officially reversed, with Morocco now being crowned winners of the tournament. We have now paid out on Morocco as winners in the outright market.” They are also honouring the original bets on Senegal — creating a rare double payout situation for punters who backed either side. 😳

Delight Ncube (26) from Bulawayo faked an armed robbery after failing to raise US$6,000 for lobola. He lied that he had lost the money, which he claimed was meant for lobola, during an armed robbery. In reality, Ncube did not have the money that his partner’s family had asked for, even though he had allowed them to prepare for the lobola ceremony. Ncube appeared before Bulawayo provincial magistrate, Themba Chimiso, facing a charge of deliberately giving false information to the police. He pleaded guilty. Full details on what happened next are available in H-Metro.

💳 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸’𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗪𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀 The biggest "pain point" for Starlink users in Zimbabwe isn't the speed or the hardware—it’s the monthly struggle to pay. While the service is officially live, the insistence on "Online Payments Only" is a massive hurdle that makes life miserable for thousands. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻: * 💸 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: Many users rely on Virtual Cards (VCNs) from EcoCash or Omari. Every time a payment fails, users are often hit with "insufficient funds" or "transaction attempt" fees. It’s expensive to fail. * 🏦 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝘅 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸: Since 1 January 2026, banks and mobile money operators have been required to withhold the 𝟭𝟱% 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝘅 (𝗗𝗦𝗪𝗧). This means your $50 sub actually costs $57.50 before bank charges. * 🛑 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀: Local banks often flag international recurring payments as high-risk, leading to sudden disconnections that require an hour of arguing with an AI bot to fix. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 You are right—we need what DStv has. A local biller code on EcoCash, InnBucks, or Omari would allow users to pay in local USD cash without needing a Visa/Mastercard. 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 "𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀" 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄: * 📞 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: As an official reseller, TelOne has a portal (shop.telone.co.zw) that allows you to pay your Starlink bill using EcoCash. But this only works for their customers * 🏠 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲: While they are currently the "face" of Starlink retail, they mostly handle hardware. If they (or similar partners) were enabled as "Collection Agents," it would eliminate the online payment stress for the average user. Requiring a "credit card culture" in a cash-heavy economy is plain silly. We need Starlink to move past the "Silicon Valley" mindset and adopt the "African Payment" reality. 🇿🇼 📲 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱: 𝗵𝘁𝘁𝗽𝘀://𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗽.𝗰𝗼𝗺/𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹/𝟬𝟬𝟮𝟵𝗩𝗮𝟳𝗧𝘃𝗴𝗻𝗙𝗦𝗔𝘁𝗖𝟳𝗾𝗟𝟲𝗩𝗶𝟯𝘅 #𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗭𝗶𝗺 #𝗭𝗶𝗺𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 #𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 #𝗭𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 #𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗭𝗶𝗺 #𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲

Even the New York Times, thousands of miles away from Africa, is reporting that the Africa Cup of Nations tournament was allegedly expected to be “rigged” in favour of Morocco before a ball was even kicked. Morocco, a team that failed to prevail on the pitch, ultimately prevailed in Mr Patrice Motsepe’s appeals committee and has now been declared the winner two months after the final was played. @CAF_Online has truly embarrassed Africa, reducing the continent to a laughing stock in the eyes of the world and football community. The world is laughing at Africa. Even the former CAF Disciplinary Committee chairman, respected arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and current chairman of the PSL Disciplinary Committee, Raymond Hack, has dismissed the decision as a joke in an interview with Robert Marawa, further exposing the extent to which this saga has undermined the credibility of African football governance. Shameless!!
The New York Times@nytimes

From @TheAthleticFC: Morocco being handed Senegal's AFCON title is ridiculous, but perhaps we should not be surprised, our columnist writes. Even before the tournament began, many Moroccans and other nations were certain the hosts would prevail. nyti.ms/4bxUYEL
