When @asherperlman got the call to be Playboy's cartoonist in residence, he went digging through the magazine's archives. He found no reason to adjust his approach. "As far as I'm concerned," Perlman says, "funny is funny."
Cartoons have been integral to this magazine since its 1953 debut. Shel Silverstein, Jules Feiffer, Gahan Wilson, and Buck Brown are among the luminaries who've contributed over the years. But never before has one artist been responsible for every cartoon in an issue. "It's a gig and an honor," Perlman says with a laugh.
The New York-based comedian and Late Show with @colbertlateshow writer didn't begin cartooning seriously until 2020, when lockdown left him unable to perform. His style evolved fast: no eyebrows, dot eyes, a pendulous nose. By year's end he'd sold his first cartoon to The @NewYorker. Now he creates four to ten a day, running through stream-of-consciousness "morning pages" before heading to work. "I'm very obsessive, probably to a fault," he says. "But I guess sometimes it works out."

Kelly Oxford remembers a time when seeing a naked woman required knowing exactly which friend's father kept a hidden stash of (ahem) magazines. That specific, finite experience shaped her understanding of her own sexuality in a way the endless "river" of modern digital content rarely does.
@kellyoxford dives into the complicated relationship between pornography and genuine preference, arguing that what we see first matters far less than what we choose when the screen goes dark: ply.by/o2a7mb

Introducing Miss April 2026: Lexee Smith, the creative force who has spent years as the invisible architect behind pop culture's most viral physical moments—crafting movement for everyone from Addison Rae to Kim Kardashian wiggling around on the floor in her "Santa Baby" video.
After building the performances that bring other people fame, Smith is finally claiming the spotlight for herself. Anika Jade Levy explores how the movement director transitioned from a "vessel" for other artists to a woman embracing her own feral, vintage-inspired fantasy in her most revealing shoot yet.

In the '60s and '70s, illustration stood shoulder to shoulder with camera pinups in Playboy. To revive the tradition, we turned to artist Drake Carr, known for his intimate colored-pencil portraits and painterly figures.
For our Spring 2026 issue, Carr drew his friend Jordan Holmes at his Brooklyn studio. "It's exciting to follow in the footsteps of artists called upon to invoke the divine feminine in service of beauty and erotic adoration," he says.

"I think the word Latina carries a lot of weight right now… Through music and art, I've seen that non-Latinos in the U.S. are beginning to understand the depth of what's happening and the real pain behind it."

"The reason we are here is to evolve the soul, and to have had that opportunity to analyze myself—to judge myself and critique myself, to understand why things were happening to me—has allowed me to move forward. I think people will start to notice that in everything I'm doing." @karolg is finished apologizing—and we're all about to be the better for it.

"And so why do I want to do this [Playboy]? Because I want to. Because I grew up inspired by how beautiful the women in the magazine looked, and now I have the opportunity to be that beautiful, sexy mamasota in the magazine. Why not?"
