Today in Changsha, I had the honor of meeting with H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China. Our conversation reaffirmed the depth of trust and friendship between Somalia and China—two nations that have stood side by side for 65 years. I expressed my heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese government for its unwavering support to Somalia during some of our most difficult times. Somalia remains a principled and reliable partner. We stand ready to work together in promoting peace and development for our people.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of FOCAC, I had the honour of addressing the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators and welcomed the ambitious new measures announced by President Xi and Minister Wang Yi to support Africa’s modernization and inclusive development journey. I reaffirmed Somalia’s unwavering commitment to this framework—not just as a platform for cooperation, but as a pillar of mutual respect, shared prosperity, and strategic alignment. We emphasized our priorities in human capital development, digital governance, infrastructure, and value-added trade. Somalia is ready to work closely with China to turn commitments into impact, and to ensure our cooperation continues to deliver for our people and the next generation.
